Hi, I have just recabled my Workbee because I stupidly cut my cables too short and couldn't move the Blackbox controller. Both the Y and Z axes move predictably, but the X axis seems to have a mind of its own. Successive + 10mm jogs from the Control software sometimes moves the gantry in the + direction, and sometimes in the - direction! And this may not be related, but the X axis stepper makes a terribly loud noise. I've loosened the backlash screws which helped. But its still uncomfortably loud. But the main problem is the random left/right motion... I've checked the wiring (the culprit of most such errors) but everything "seems" to be right. Any ideas? Duncan
It still sounds like a wiring issue, especially when it was just modified. Is there any chance that there is a bad connection in one of the screw terminals? Maybe the wire insulation is blocking a good connection?
I had crimped ferules on the ends of all the wires, and found that quite a few of them were making poor contact. Lesson: ferules do not work on very small guage wire. So I returned to crimping naked wire, and problem solved. Thank you, Duncan
