    Hi

I have a blackbox with Neje 30W laser.
    S max is 1000
To set the focus I need to fire the laser at minimum.
With S10 (=1%), it burns a bit the wood and I would prefer to have less power. Yet for S <10, the laser did not fire at all.
I am wondering if it is a laser or blackbox limit, to not work under 1%?

    thx

grbl "spindle speed" is an 8-bit value, so it's 0-255. Minimum power is therefore about 0.4%. To get exact numbers, set Smax to 255- but mathematically you should be able to get down to at least 5/1000, not sure why it's cutting off at <10.

Perhaps a limitation of the diode itself- they have "minimum current before lasing" parameters, I think usually around 130mA or so. You'd have to check your datasheet for that, or power the diode directly from the constant current output of a bench supply.
