I'm happy to do this but can you explain how to do it. I looked at the options in save as & pack & go and could not find a way to export in an older format.

Your welcome. You could use Mark Beers original solidwork parts files OR use my step format version of the assembly. Sorry I could not save in older version.
Hi, Can you export the assembly (I bet that is Assem1.SLDASM) in IGES or STEP? If you go to File, save as, then in the list "Save as type", you can select IGES or STEP. Thanks in advance.
there's another way to downgrade the solidworks version online, you can upload your design in (www.3dcontentcentral.com) to share free, no need to pay to register and upload or download, the advantage of this page is that you can configure the files before download, this means choose the SW version "2013-2014-2015" and other cross platform CAD extension, a lot of extension are available . You can upload a single part or an entire assembly with all that parts included.
Hi fleming, I will try to do this on the weekend... I don't mind sharing here, I'm not sure I want to share on 3dcontentcentral because I did not author all the parts... Many were authored by Mark Beers, I just added into assembly and tweaked for my own use, such as using feature recognition.
i´m using the mark beers files, but when i use the openbuild official dimension of the parts looks like don't fit easily or technically they seems fixed in real world, I need help to solve this, my question is, What are the correct dimensions? openbuilds (99.99% agree) or my cad software. Obviously i don't fully trust in a solid that i haven't drawn by myself
My build was authored from Marks original files. I noticed the same wheel & extrusion issue in SolidWorks. The eccentrics have enough adjustment to make this a non-issue. But I must admit I did change many of the holes distance measurements just to make me "feel better". i.e. Horizontal distances are often not perfect. Marks original files were good enough to creates an OX that fit together perfectly. I have since re-authored a totally different set of OX models which are more precise using micrometer to measure the real parts... I'm not sure it was worth the effort to re-engineer each part but it made me more comfortable for my Linear OX project. If I was starting the original project again I would plan on redesigning many of the original parts because there is lots of room to make simple improvements. For example Y axis corner brackets, Z axis nema 23 brackets, etc.
so there's no need to worry, i'm saying if i use the original measurements of openbuilds, to draw a part and later create that part in the real world in aluminium , yes i'm gonna backwards according the purpose of openbuilds to just buy and assemble i like a lot this idea, but i'm not from USA that's result very long time of shipping (not to much) and an additional tax and charges to the original amount of the buy, so i prefer buy just necessary or vital parts (v-slot_v-wheels) and fabricate other such brackets, plates, 90° corner, NEMA 17-23 mount, etc. I have the tools and material... it's more cheaper The point is, everything goes right if i use the original or published dimension of the parts in my design, to fabricate a non OX designs , i'm correct?
I purchased wheels, bearings, extrusions, most of the plates were cut with water jet locally. I purchased nema mounting brackets from open builds but feel the are too light weight. In my opinion the openBuilds acme rod is also a little light weight for a CNC machine. I cannot say if your design will work with Mark's original files, but can say they worked fine for a standard OX.
uhh yeah, I was refer to the original like the dimension made by open builds, and yes, i only consider the openBuild when i'm planning to make small or desktop machines, like dremel cnc and 200mmx200mm or 300mmx300mm (printed area) 3D printers "like the picture"
I normally use smoth rods and all that stuff, but sometimes that pieces are expensive , i 'll give a try and let's see what's happend thanks for the advice, I think when all things get together it will work fine (not expecting a high precision machine)
Your welcome Mauricio, one of my issues is the cost of openbuilds wheels & bearings really mounts up quickly, the precision good enough for a hobby machine and eccentric spacer's are great for removing small size differences. Double check all the holes on the none eccentric size are aligned perfectly! I found a few cases where this was not the case! I can tell from your picture you know how to build a stronger machine!
ohh, check my delta 3D printer,,LOL maybe I am just showing off , that delta cost like $350 USD total, i believe always is better to make all parts if you are not happy with the pieces available on the market (cost!!). I just open your assembly, looks fcking great!! I'm gonna use some parts like the Motor Mount Plate By the way, in the picture appears some of my students, that's my work, teach people to build cnc, 3d printer and robotics. I'm not Mechanical engineer , just electronic engineer who's love cnc stuff
The assembly was good enough for the first OX build. That was the first SolidWorks model I had completed since 2003! So double check everything! Love the 3D printer and the student workshop. Great to see lots of people working together and having fun. I love teaching, it's so rewarding to provide inspiration and knowledge. This is my work in progress build. Your extra strong OX its very nice, I also working with a non linear v-wheel bearings setup, a CNC intended to (cut) work with aluminium , the design is based on basic aluminium and steel shapes and bearing, square and rectangular solid bars, it's extremely cheap like 80 USD in total aluminium like 13 kg of aluminium , the design is not mine but obviously I 'll share with you.

Mauricio the video you posted has some great design ideas for building a machine with in-expensive parts. Very creative engineering and a good web site... It's already got me thinking! Designing is a fun activity!
Time ago, like 1 year ago, somebody leaked the plans on scribd, so you can completely read for free the plans, so there's a advice its like 120 pages, I print screen all that pages sized at full screen, i did that on linux (DEBIAN 7) that'll make easier that task because on linux when you press the printscreen button the system creates the JPG file of the screen automatically, so there's no worry for the paste and save work on word or paint or photoshop. Wow, thank you for the link. Authoring this manually was a lot of work and a really great read, it's full of very good information. Honestly worth the $20. When your new to building CNC machines it's really great to read a manual like this even if you don't build that specific machine.
this cnc plans really worth, when I found this book on scribd I didn't know that it was for sale, and ripped , but now the cnc is on development. if I get stuck in some point I'll buy the plans LOL!! to get online support via Mail
I can't seem to find a link for the stp files. The AluminumOX.zip file only has files dated from 2014-12 and just seems to be SLDPRT and SLDASM files.
Its also possible that I'm just not looking in the right place (or clicking on the wrong thing) or something along those lines.
