Hello everyone, yesterday when cleaning my aps I removed an old version of openbuilds control but with that also the latest version. Now when I try to download it again it is blocked by my computer because it could be dangerous. how can I get around this?
Sounds like either you have some overzealous antivirus blocking legit apps, or you have a virus that infects the download as soon as its finished.
If you're on Windows 10, Windows Defender usually block *.exe files if they are not signed by developers.
Hello Jeff, Can I temporarily disable windows defender so that the download can be completed. This will be the first time this has happened, I have never had this problem. Thanks for your comment. Bert
Hello Peter, since i used the internet for 30 years or so i have had mcafee as a virus protector and to date i have never had a virus. What can I do to cancel this block. thanks for your comment. Bert
Hi Peter and Jeff, I have now both disabled windows defender and mcafee but it still gives the same message when downloading control software. I've tried it several times now but it won't install. It is still blocked with the same message that it is too dangerous for my computer.
It doesn't give you a "run anyway" option? Windows often gets a little overprotective, but as long as you're consciously downloading the software and confident of the source, it shouldn't be an issue. It would be helpful when things try to run when you didn't initiate them. Might need to include a screenshot of the warning.
Hello Rob, The opportunity is not given. There is a blockage and I cannot get around it. I attach a screenshot, but it is in Dutch. The text is on the top right of the screen. Thank you for your response.
Hello Peter, I've been using the control software for a year now and I've never had any problems downloading or updating. I hope this can be solved because I think it is a very good software package. Thanks for your comment.
Helle Peter, Daar staat alleen de ontelbare keren dat ik al geprobeerd heb het programma de activeren. Meer niet.
Helle Peter, There it only says the countless times that I have already tried to activate the program. No more.
You might give running a system cleaner a go. Microsoft has one built in. It’s fairly light but might solve the problem. CCleaner has worked the best for me in the past, haven’t used it in a number of years though.
Edge gives me these options when downloading directly from software.openbuilds.com: I reported the download link (the tortured github dynamic link that they capture) to Microsoft as safe, maybe it helps.
Yessss, I have the control software back on my desktop and working. Many thanks to all who contributed and helped and yes Peter you were right. I have now used Chrome and that worked without a hitch. Sincerely Bert
I am sorry that I have to bring it up, but that Cracked copy of Vectric could have introduced Malware or Viruses too... Cracked software are often filled with nasties, thats the game after all, get you to install their modified version to make you part of the botnet Plus, consider supporting Vectric Products - OpenBuilds Part Store instead Vectric offers a Free trial if you just want to test drive, but after that, one should do the right thing. Alos v9 is quite outdated
Hi Peter, You're right I shouldn't have done that but I can assure you that I didn't get the program to work and so it's a waste of money. God punishes immediately. Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa. I will try the free version to see if I can use this program. I hope it's not too hard to learn I'm not the youngest anymore. learning is not so easy anymore. Bert
Vectric has great tutorials on their own YouTube channel, plenty of folks on our forum to help, and see docs:software:vectric [OpenBuilds Documentation] for our compatible post processors
