No, this is not a solicitation or advertising post. I have no affiliation with them (or anyone for that matter) I have been searching the various upgrades available for my lead1010 without having to mill the plates myself because I am being lazy. I came across the CNC4Newbies kit to upgrade the lead, but when I emailed them they kept pushing for the complete unit, even though you can select the lead as an option on the upgrade kit.. so if they cannot ge their crap together, I am not interested. I like the Piranha option from here, but it's a full unit, or just the plates (which are currently sold out).. And then I came across this today, if you want to review it, google Ratrig Killerbee.. An upgrade kit seems to exist.. and they use 8mm steel plate instead of aluminum. Cost including shipping to the US is not terrible, but not great.. Anyone have experience with Ratrig as a vendor from a customer service and quality perspective..... ?
If you’re too lazy to cut your own plates you might check with @Chris Laidlaw. He does good work. One of the projects he did plates for was Sphinx 55 on MGN12 linear rails.
Certainly hope it's not "reinforced by MGN15 rails" 8mm steel is probably roughly equivalent to 3/4" aluminum. Not bad, but it's also not gonna solve the problems caused by such a lightweight structure. Would probably be better off just using half inch aluminum, which you could cut yourself on the pre-upgrade machine.
Ratrig is a very good company they sell a lot of openbuils gear I have bought a lot from them the killer bee is very popular with in the uk but there is such a demand for it you will have to wait a while . But the people who have got them are very happy
