I was doing some wire management today (bundling and re-routing some wires) and when I turned on my machine and started the homing cycle, the z-axis started moving in the wrong direction. I checked the wire connections, made sure the screws and connectors were tight and retried the homing cycle. That time it went in the correct direction. I then tried to jog the z-axis. No mater what I did the z-axis would always move down (never up). I once again checked the wiring but the behaviour was the same and the z-axis would always move down instead of up. Does any one have a solution or troubleshooting tip that might resolve this behaviour?
Have you checked the wiring with a meter? You could have a broken wire inside the insulation where you can't see ir. Alex.
That appears to be the case in one of the wires. There is some continuity but it fluctuates which indicates a problem. I replaced the wire and everything seems to be working except the direction of travel is reversed. I will fix that and I should be back in business. Thanks for the help.
