I just spent time going through the Lead 1010 parts list and adding all the pieces to my cart but tried to use 500mm size parts instead of 1000mm... It's looking like it only comes out $300 cheaper but the size would be much more manageable in my shop. Also looked at the sphinx but there are parts out of stock... I had planned on getting the C-Beam machine but would like something that can handle ~2-2.5" Z height and slightly bigger size than the C-beam can do. Mainly looking at Bowl and sign type projects that i can use my Dewalt router on. Currently have a 3018 with the extension kit and while the C-beam is a MUCH more capable machine size wise it doesn't size gain me much, but i know speed/time it's going to be a huge upgrade. What machine would you guys recommend? Should I just go with the Lead 1010 and make room for it. or stick with the C-beam and see if maybe down the road I can increase the Z size? Thanks Ya'll!
I would get the 1010. But if you are still concerned about size email the parts store and ask them to cut the smaller size. That being said, if you need 20" by 20", the 500mms will not get you that because there are things that will reduce that like the width of the gantry plates which already takes away 125mm (I believe) from each axis. So go at least 750mm x 750mm. Customizing a Machine
Same here - LEAD 1010 for the win. Making space for it is easier than running into jobs you cannot fit on your machine later. LEAD is the flagship - stronger and more modular than sphinx and other designs.
Thanks both good suggestions. Yeah I was thinking the 500mm might be a little too small as i had the same problem with my acro when i bought it... wasn't long before i made it bigger too.
