Hello to everyone, I have the Openbuilds control software and use a BlackBox with a BM3D Workbee 1500x1000 cnc. Pretty much a newbie with the cnc concept. Few bumps along the road, started last year assembling the unit and up till now, went from the seperate driver-stepper motors to the BlackBox. Everything was going ok and have managed to overcome most hurdles, LOL.
My newest issue is with the "SurfacingWizard app, it starts up, goes then just stops moving, "Hard Stop Alarm"???? in the middle of the table. Everything appears normal. It has done this 4-5 timebs. I have run the entire surfacing g-code with a dry run(motor on and off). Success on both. Go ack to start and run rpogram, just randomly STOPS, in a different spot(each time). My spoilboard is getting thinner, hahaha, and no closer to been surfaced. What is causing it to stop randomly? Re-installed CONTROL app. flashed Blackbox firmware, checked all the wiring for loose connectios, checked all the limit switches. HELP! Hope someone has an answer. Thanks to all.
PS; I am 71 years old and know just enough about computers to be dangerous. Love the CNC machine idea, have managed a few completed projects, mostly sign, couple 2.5d projects. I use Vectric Vcarve desktop.

What are you using - router or spindle with vfd? And how have you arranged the wiring to it?
What you describe sounds very much like a "false limits" alarm caused by emi (interference).
    Alex.

    Checkout docs:blackbox:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation]
Did you install our Xtensions limits or still using the switches that came with the machine?

Hello Alex, I am using a Huanyang HY02D223B 2.2kw and 2.2kw watercooled spindle. Regards the EMI, I have used shielded cables thru out. My thinking is to pull the spindle power cable out of the tray and place it away from other cables in tray, see if I can get all the way thru the surfacing job.
Hello peter, i am using the older 2 wire limit switches.

Is there away to re-start the g-code from the last stoppage?

Exactly what I was going to suggest - physical distance between a possible source and low voltage wiring is the best precaution against emi.
    Alex.

Sections 2.1 and 2.2 then will get you well on your way: docs:blackbox:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation]

Yes! See the Swing Arm link in section 2.1 of docs:blackbox:faq-emi [OpenBuilds Documentation] (last sentence in that section)

Only by manually editing gcode, adding modals and manually writing re-positioning moves to enter the restarted cut safely. Quite complicated, usually better to start over or re-cam skipping sections already completed

Peter, this random stoppage is a new problem, I have surfaced the spoilboard once before and all was good with that job. Machine runs alot and never happened running any other gcode.

Is it MDF? It is very dusty, and on the rare occasions that I have cut it, it is static prone.

Yes, I’m guilty, I. was surfacing mdf. Never ending learning curve. Can I connect the mdf to my earth ground? Thank you all for all the input.

I thank everyone who replied to my needing some experienced solutions. I moved my spindle power cable out of the tray and i was able to actually finish surfacing my spoil board. And out of sawdust a new project emerges.
