Good afternoon everyone. I currently own a small Piranha, work area 12x13 inches. I built a table for it, with hinged lid to enclose the whole thing. I cut holes in the plexiglass sides of the enclosure for air flow, and I connect a 4" dust collector hose to the top. It doesn't suck up all the chips, but it does keep them contained instead of all over the floor. And it works great to evacuate the airborne dust while the job is running, so I don't have to breathe it. Wondering about a LEAD machine and a dust boot. How effective is a dust boot at containing all that dust, both chips and fine dust? As good as an enclosure? And has anyone found it inconvenient that, with the dust boot attached, you can't see the bit contacting the workpiece? Just trying to learn any pros/cons. Thx, rink.
Depends on many factors, like your vacuum, the boot setup, the material. If you are cutting close to the material edge and there is a big leak because of the step. Definitely helps with the small floaty stuff the most. Cheers Gary
