Open to that idea, but I don't have a lathe and haven't seen anyone selling 'dimensionally accurate brass rods' or similar.

If I did swap a bit though, the screen on the interface shows bit size when probing any axis, I assume it's only taken into account when probing x, y or xyz? ie if you swap bits you run the xyz probe, swap and then just rerun z?

Exactly - probe XYZ with the rod, change to bit, then probe Z.
I do have a lathe, so made my own rod, but they are available commercially. Can't remember what they are called but I think @Giarc had some links?

"Dowel pins" from McMaster etc. Very precise.

Deceleration on a probe will likely snap a 0.25mm bit, just not suitable as a probe tool. Easy to add the option to a future firmware update, but we just don't think its a good idea to probe radially with tools that small, sorry

Google Vermont Gage for dimensionally accurate rods. If you have a Grainger nearby, you can get them in many sizes. I have the 0.2500" pin. https://www.grainger.com/product/VERMONT-GAGE-Class-ZZ-No-Go-Pin-Gauge-0-5VUG0

Gage pins, available from Amazon. Handy for lots of things. If you don't need the full set, Mcmaster has precision drill rod in individual sizes. Not brass, but hi carbon steel.

A fistfull of dowell pins are nice thing to have. McMaster lists them as being more accurate than I though they were. 0.0001" to 0.0003". They are also great for when you want to flip a part.

I'm based in Australia but was able to find some at a local supplier, thanks for the tip!

    ** UPDATE **

It automagically fixed itself by configuring a different wifi first, then the offending one. Now it works with the first wifi.

    **

Hi! Just got my Interface Touch, but running into an issue with wifi.

The interface works fine. But when I connect it to my wifi, it connects fine, the restarts and gets into a reboot loop. It starts to loead grbl then reboots infinitely.

The only way out is to erase the flash with esptool and reflash as factory.

Do anyone know of specific wifi settings that could make this happen?

I have an Interface on order, but I have a V2.3 Black box. Is it Ok to provide a separate 5V to the Interface and only run tx, rx, and Gnd to the black box? Would the new 5V supply need the TVS module or is that just to protect the internal 5V buck in the Black box?

    Thanks, Stan

    You can yes.

The TVS should be installed on any BlackBox where Q23 had to be removed.

Are there any plans to provide the source code of the interface so we can add our own customizations or contribute? Like for long file names ;)

The CH376 does support long file names. It is specifically mentioned in the specs. It may just be a limitation for writing files.

"Provide file management functions: open, create or delete files, enumerate and search files, create subdirectories, support long file names;"

Their doc specifies an example "EXAM1" for long file names, which I cannot seem to find on their site...

Thanks for looking into it. Been a couple years since I was in there last, not sure why I remember it as a limitation - perhaps we couldn't get it to work, or it had some other impact in what we were doing at the time. Will add it back to the todo to look at for a future update

I have been trying to get the Touch control system to work properly for months with a USB. Every time I go to use it, it doesn't recognize the USB with the files on it right away (yes I prepped it with Control). I can only get it to work if I barely put the USB in with the system turned off. Then if I hold it at a certain angle with sight forward pressure while it is booting up, it will recognize it from then on. I can remove it, plug it back in and it works fine. I just can't shut it off or I am back to where I am every time I start it up. The problem is it takes me 30 min each time I go to use the machine to get that correct angle. I have tried multiple usb sticks to no avail. Is this normal behavior or am I missing something?

How do you send a command to turn the coolant and dust on (via relayed power strip)before running a file?

    M8 = on, M9 = off
Your CAM is supposed to add that to the gcode file for you so it all happens automatically

Never seen that option in Vcarve pro - near least not on the ShopBot. Any ideas where it is in Vcarve?

For Vectric, you may need to edit the ShopBot Post processor to include it in header/footer: M8 on M9 off

Some of their models has an "offline controller" port
    upload_2023-1-25_18-41-25.jpeg

But we've not been able to locate a pinout or documentation (OpenBuilds releases all information on our products) to confirm if that has UART pins, and are standard Grbl compatible.
If you can find more info about it (pinout, whether it is has UART and Power, whether it talks to grbl Firmware inside or something else? etc) you can maybe give it a go

Hi, I recently upgraded an older MicroMill with the X32, Touch Probe Plus, and Interface. Easy switch over and everything works as advertised. One quick question, can/will the automatic probing routine found in CONTROL be added to the INTERFACE? Currently, only the x, y, z, and xyz routines are listed on the INTERFACE. Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion, but not at this time - it is on the roadmap for a future update
