i’m considering changing the controller over to a black box. i want to use the interface as well. this machine uses a 48v power supply and steppers. i assume i need to swap to a 24v power supply. how much am i giving up by doing that? the blackbox takes over for the stepper controllers as well - right? so i’ll only have my power supply and the black box.

    thanks

I wouldn't think you would be giving up much of anything. I do not know which Millwright machine you have, but the ones I just looked at to help me answer this question are all using 270 oz.in motors which have less holding torque than the OpenBuilds high torque motors. I would think they would run just fine with the BlackBox and the 24 Volt power supply. The best thing would be to find the specifications for the motors and post them here.

And to answer your other question, the Blackbox has onboard stepper motor drivers so a power supply and the Blackbox and the Xtension Connector Sets should be all you need as long as your existing wiring is in good condition.
