Hello, first time builder and first time poster!
Purchased and built a lead 1515 and everything went no hiccups and everything seems to operate. Only moved it around and found home. Lots to learn!!!!!
The spindle I stubbornly chosen is an amb 1050 but they accidentally sent me the 1400 P Di model . So choosing this spindle I had to purchase a different spindle mount to fit the tiny 43mm spindle. The problem I am facing now is well 2 things:
1)The Z axis MAXED out to the bottom only brings the bottom of the ER16 collet flush to the bottom of the z axis plates! Therefor I would need a 4” bit just to reach the bottom of the work area. That is going to lead to some serious deflection using such a large bit.
Question here is what else can be done to bring the spindle lower on the z axis? ‍♂️
    See picture for a reference.
    2) dust shoe! Think I have figured a fix to this one. Since there is no 43mm dust shoe available my thought is to glue/screw/secure the 65mm dust shoe from open builds to the underside of the spindle mount. I’m pretty confident that will work but a confirmation or another suggestion would be helpful.

Note: this picture shows the spindle just resting in the spindle mount(new one has not arrived just yet).

I'm guessing that the spindle will not drop any lower into the mounting because of the external design of the router casing?

Yes you are correct. Mount on it is very small.

If I would have found this prior I would have went for it. Thanks for that!
The mount I bought mounts the same as the openbuilds. so maybe if I buy another gantry plate and screw them together. Not sure how that could work as I would be covering the screws to mount the gantry plate back onto the machine. Why do fixes always have more problems. Lol

Consider C-Beam Gantry Plate - Double Wide - OpenBuilds Part Store. Ref the second photo to show how the mount attaches. You should have matching screw holes you can work with to attach plate to plate at the bottom but you may have to drill suitable holes to get it to match the threaded holes at the top.
