I have hardly used a cnc before, just getting it up and going. I've been using estlcam and just making simple dxf drawings. Exporting and then running on the blackbox with openbuilds software. I'd like to make a small round piece that angles up. It also has a hole through the center. How would I go about making this? Do I need to make it 3d? Thanks
One way to do it if you use Fusion 360 is to draw half of it looking at it from the side (minus the radius of the hole). Then using the "Solid" tab, choose the "revolve" tool Pick the axis you want to revolve it around and hit ok You quickly have your 3D part. You now need to generate the Gcode. If you are already using Estlcam, export this object as an .stl, then import it into Estlcam and pick the tools you want to mill it and generate your Gcode. If you want to learn how to generate the gcode from Fusion 360, you can do that as well, but make sure you add the Openbuilds post processor to Fusion 360.
I would draw it in Tinkercad export as STL and use the 3d STL option on Estlcam, would need a small ball end bit to carve it. Gary

Thanks Ya I tried like you said and think I was having trouble with the settings and could have used something besides an end mill bit. I ended up making it different. But was great to learn some about fusion.
