Hello, Does anyone know if you can use one large spoilboard rather than mounting 3 16 x 56 boards on the Lead 1515? I almost exclusively use painters tape so the slots end up being in the way of a good application of tape.
There's no reason you can't. The only potential obstacle is material availability to match the width of the supporting bed rails. The edge support rails can easily be moved inward though to accommodate a narrower sheet.
Great, do you know the width of the x axis with the gaps? I can get MDF as wide as 1800mm so material would not be a limitation
Just taking a measurement from the drawing, 1300mm looks to be ideal. If you do a lot of sheet goods, you might consider a 1300 x 1512 base layer with a 1/2" wear layer sized to match the cuttable area placed on top of it. This allows you to resurface the wear layer without creating a hollowed out area in the main board that large stock won't set down into.
