I was cutting some Delrin parts on my Millright Carve King using Open Builds UGS software today and accidentally ran the bit into an aluminum support. I replaced the bit and then tried run to more Delrin parts, but the brand new bit was chattering significantly and the parts look very rough.

I checked all the lead screws and none seem to be loose. When a grab the collet of my Spindle and try to move it, it feels like it always has; I can't detect any wobble.

The machine moves in all axes normally.

Might I need to order a new spindle?

    Any other thoughts?

    Thanks for any advice.

Hi John, could be a chipped endmill, or aluminum welded on to it (can be scrapped off usually)? which spindle are you using? is it one of those dc motors? bent shaft?

    Thanks for you reply, Gary.
I'm using a brand new router bit.
I'll look up the spindle. Just looking at the spindle running free, I can't tell that the shaft is bent.
I'm going to try tightening the wheels that contact the guide rails; some of them seem to be not as tight as normal.

Also check the collars that constrain the lead screws

I hadn't checked the collars but just tightened them. Also tightened the motor mounts which had been a little loose.

I had already tightened the grub screws, which didn't solve the problem, so I think they were okay.
I tightened the V Wheels and ran the part again and it was much better. But still not where I want it to be.

If all the above hasn't fixed it, I'll try to figure out how to adjust the anti-backlash nuts.

    Thanks again, Gary.

Tightening the lead screw collars and motor mounts made a difference.
Everything is where I need it to be.
    Thanks!
