It appears that there is a conflict with lowering the router on the Z axis with the dust shoe connected, whereby the dust shoe is catching on the bottom plate of the Z gantry. This only occur if the dust show is facing on the X axis, either positive or negative. Installing the dust shoe and running it parallel to the Y will clear the gantry plate, however, the vacuum is not sucking the dust up as the router is spitting the dust to the X negative. There have been some posts in the past about removing some of the material on the dust shoe or coming up with another home made solution. What do most people do in this scenario? Let it shoot dust out the X negative and clean up later or ? Ideally, I'd really really like to avoid it if possible. It wont be perfect and I get it, but I feel there is a better solution than connecting the dust shoe and facing it parallel to the Y. Thank you!
There will always be the issue when the shoe is off the edge and lets chips fly in that direction (I think that is what you are talking about?). Sometimes it's worth using some scraps to fill in the voids for the shoe to maintain performance. But, nothing will ever be perfect you do the best you can and clean up a bit later, that's life. Gary
