Hi I am new to Openbuilds Cam When I try to open a .DXF file I have created in Turbocad I get this message " an unknow error occured:Type Error: cannot read propertries of undifined (reading 'color') Can anyone help me with this error so I can get started. Ian R Australia
Hi Alex Thank you for that No I was not doing that but will give it a try I have been using Estalcam and it accepts my files from Turbocad with no problems
If it doesn't, use an intermediate step (Clean it up in QCAD or any other suitble CAD for example) Problems with importing DXF into OBcam
Hi again my CNC Plasma is a DYI unit I built my self I have been using Mach3 and in there you can calibrate the axis with the number of steps per mm etc. How do I do this with the Openbuilds Balck box Ian R
If you are using Openbuilds Control there's a calibration wizard, but calibrate over the longest distance you can accurately measure. The pdf explains the theory, the wizard (see the video in that link) makes it easy by doing the sums for you. See Calibrating your cnc Alex.
Hi me again my home built CNC plasma cutter uses NC limit switches so if any wire breakes etc it goes into error. I see Openbuilds uses NO switches, can this be changed to use NC switches. Ian R
Thank you your support on this forum is amazing I am so glad i purchased the Black Box My 24 volt power supply has finaly arrived so i will now be able to power up the controller and see how it all works Thanks once again for all your support Ian R
Hi me again my replacment Blackbox X32 has arrived so I am back trying to set things up still having issues with opening a DXF file from Turbocad, have tried to tidy it up in Qcad but still will not work comes up with undifined error could some one have a look at the attached files for me please and give some idea why I can not open it. the Welding Clamp.DXF is from Turbocad, I cam open this in Estlcam and run the Gcode in Mach3 and it all works. Ian R.
You probably already know this, but if it opens in Estlcam, you can save the gcode using a grbl post pricessor.
I am way over a thousand miles from my computer so I cannot do any screenshots, but it is in the Set-up portion of the software where you can choose the grbl, mach3, etc. It is also where you can decide if you zero at the machine bed, or the top of the work piece.
If you have not done so yet, under "Setup" select "CNC programs/ post processors, then select "Presets" and choose grbl.
