Hi everyone, I recently finished my Lead 1510 build with high Z mod. The X and Z axis operate smoothly but I'm hearing and feeling some resistance in the machine movement along the Y axis. Mainly the right side. I'm using the Blackbox controller with Openbuilds Control software. • I've squared, re-squared and made certain all rails (C beam and V rail) are square and parallel. • I noticed the extra set of wheels were causing the upright rails to teeter. I loosened them so the rollers rest on either side (front and back). • The plastic lead screw nut blocks are snug but not over tight. It seems over tightening made the resistance worse. I've also snugged the lead screws to reduce whipping. Any thoughts on how to correct the noise/resistance or is this how machine is supposed to sound? See private video below.
Could try a little Dry/PTFE lubricant on the leadscrew first (Don't use oils, it will degrade the delrin/acrylic components)
I use the spray one with the little tube on it, but either is fine. Just helps the leadscrew through the nut a little easier.
Hey everyone, I'm going the the process of re-securing all the mechanical components. I was forced to remove the additional set of wheels from the Y axis assemblies because the center set of wheels was sitting too low causing the assembly to rock. After removing them, and when trying to secure the eccentric nuts I noticed 1 set of wheels, top and bottom, don't make contact with the C beam, even when the eccentric nut is rotated to it's maximum reach, and the 6mm marking facing upwards. I triple checked the positioning of the precision shims. Visually the wheels are centered over the channels. I'm worried the through holes on the plates are too far apart from one another. Can someone shed some light on what's going on here?
Hi JDCNC Every Build can be a little different so if there any tweaking from one side column to another you can see a set of wheels that may not sit tight right out of the gate. I would try to loosen the columns a bit by cracking loose the screws just a little to let them find their place then retighten. Also, sometimes it may just take a little time for these wheels to break in and seat themselves in place. I would suggest running your machine and letting it work in for a while under loads, working projects while checking the wheels after some time to ensure they have seated then you can go through and snug everything back up to the rail.
