    Hello All,
    I am new to the CNC building world. I must say this site has been invaluable ! I am not sure if this is the right place to ask...
    I have a cross between a Lead 1515 and a Sphinx CNC machine. I have set everything up and I am trying to flatten my spoil board. I have done the tram in both X and Y axis, but I am seeing the outer edges of the x-axis still has a ridge (see picture attached). It then gets smooth in the middle. I am thought maybe the X axis was riding up toward the edges but I don't thing it is, as I checked the height at left, right, and middle.
    Any incite or ideas of things to check would be really appreciated.
    Thank you Spoil board issue.jpg

    Maybe the cutter is not reaching the edges? There is a limit to the amount of physical travel the router can reach {which must be factored in when preparing the cut file}

    It looks like your spindle is out of tram in the Y direction (at least near the edges). Double check that there is no play in the machine and that nothing is pulling on the Z axis near the ends of travel (cables, vacuum hose, etc) and re-check the tram?

    Thank you Christian and MisterG, in the last step the wizard runs from the back right to the front to clean the edge and as seen in the picture it cleans the high spots. Yesterday, I manually ran in it from front to back instead of side to side and it was much better. I think MisterG is correct and i need to triple check the tram in the Y direction (front to back). I am thinking of putting in set screws to make the adjustment easier. Having only the edges be not flat is what is messing with me. I would think if the tram is out then it would be out all the way across..
    Thanks again, I will let you know what I find.

    That's not whats its for though, that cleanup should nip out the recesses left by the circular bit giving you a straight edge on the side of the pocket

    That lifting / twisting is still mechanical and should be found/fixed

    Agreed, though - if the spindle is heavy it may be introducing twist in the beam. At the end its more rigid and shows it being out of tram, along the middle the twist "cancels" out the error?
