IoT Relay

    Is there a reason that only the router should be connected to the relay?

    only the router is what you want turned on and off by the controller

    a) its not a power strip
    b) plugging, say your 24v PSU into Normally On, will turn OFF your machine (no movement) when the machine turns on the spindle.
    c) you don't want to overload it (one IoT per device, seperate one for Dust extractor for example: docs:blackbox-x32:connect-coolant [OpenBuilds Documentation] )

    All the points that Peter made are very valid so, to get two, or more, appliances turned on by the single IoT use it as a switch to turn on two, or more, external relays. One for each appliance.
