Looking to purchase my second Acro system, but would like a specific size due to space limitations. I need a work area of 800 * 600mm. I suspect this is possibly, but a forum search doesnt see to find a similar question.

I'm guessing it something like cut the frame to the correct size, modify some size settings somewhere and thats about it ?

Yes, and if you work out the lengths the shop will generally cut them for you. Just leave a note in the comment section when you order it.

OpenBuilds ACRO 1010 40" x 40" - OpenBuilds Part Store should do the trick for you. Work area is 800 x 800 so you'd really only need to trim down one axis to get 800 x 600. As for which axis that's going to depend on preference. Trimming it shouldn't affect the price.

thanks I may just stick with the 40" x 40".

If I want to add a drag chain to the X axis, do I need to specify longer cables for the X axis motor on the machine order, and if so how ?

Also what size drag chain for the 40" machine ?
    thanks

The wires should be long enough as they typically come in a stock length which you have to cut down. Something to verify with the shop though.

As far as adding a drag chain, you would need to go with a 1000mm chain but mounting it becomes an issue. You will need to add an additional rail parallel to the x-axis for it to run on. A single stick of V-Slot 20x20 Linear Rail Aluminum Extrusion Profile (openbuildspartstore.com) with a length matching the x-axis rail and a couple of 3 Hole Joining Strip Plate - OpenBuilds Part Store to serve as outriggers off the main rail to support it. You will also need a package of Tee Nuts - M5 Pack - OpenBuilds Part Store and Low Profile Screws M5 (10 Pack) - OpenBuilds Part Store to attach it.
