Recently got done wiring my black box and went to configure GRBL and all was well and had the limits properly configured. That is until I started changing the GRBL settings to my machine specifications and then I noticed that the Y-axis limit now acted for the X-axis, the X-axis for the Z-axis, and the Z-axis does not have a domain. Really stumped on this one and unsure of how this could have happened. Tried flashing firmware and it did not help. Mind you, the limits were operating correctly on their respective axis before, so this is not a wiring issue. Newer to GRBL so there may be some config I am completely missing. Hopefully I just don't know what I'm doing. Worst comes to worst I could likely switch the wires physically and resolve the issue. Thanks for the help.
after you load the firmware, did you load a machine profile from OpenBuildsCONTROL ? These standard profiles set all the things that the Blackbox needs to operate, and then you can check which switch does what using the diagnostic panel as well. That will tell you if X is plugged into Y, etc. Then you can calibrate using the Wizard in CONTROL. After that is good you can set the max travel rates and accelerations to suite your machine, and also the max distances so that soft limits will work correctly.
I did flash the firmware through open builds control though I did not specify a machine. I may try that later. I have used the troubleshooting tab for testing the switches, by manually actuating them and seeing the “on”/“off”. Is the diagnostics a separate menu? Also, does the wizard calibration allow designating connector locations or is that to modify the noise filtering? Thanks again.
generally not optional (-: troubelshooting = diagnostics the wizard calibrates the steps/mm for each axis. that is all.
Uninstalled/Reinstalled openbuildsCONTROL and flashed the firmware again today. Worked. Think there may have been a comms issue when I flashed previously. Thanks for your time.
