i´m sorry buit i still dont get how it works. I download the cubetool box, but how do i get the firmware to patch it ?
I would suggest being very careful with the CubePro. Several complaints have been lodged saying the chamber heater fails after the patch. Considering you have to interrupt the installation process, this is a problem that only shows up for some. I've settled for the chip recharging solutions for CubePro. This is not the case for Cube3. The installation is cleaner.
Hello, I have a CubePro that I purchased in 2015. It has worked fine for all this time. However, my last print failed miserably and since then the printer’s jet carrier will get to a location near the left rear and seize and buzz/squeal until the power is turned off. It is easy to reproduce by simply pressing the Change Cartridge on the main menu. The carrier will move to the same point and just buzz…. However, I can manually move the jets all around without any issue. I can test the jet and the filament flows just fine. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is and how I would go about fixing it. Sorry if this post is hijacking the thread? Point me to another forum and I will happily post my question there. Thank you for any assistance!!!!
Someone gave me a used Cube 3rd Generation P/N : 392200. But it does not have a power cord. I have searched to buy it, but I can't find it. https://www.newegg.com/3d-systems-3...8lhxc5M7NuhCf6w_ybWGCj6eM8Fl8qCPsi6yEl7vEY9I6 Could this work? 4-Pin 24VDC 5A AC Adapter For FY2405000 Effinet EFL-2202W Switching Power Supply | eBay Thanks for any help.
Thank you JT3D for that quick reply, it helps a lot, placing the order now and will get back as soon as it arrives!
For anyone that comes across this posting, the following power supply for the Cube 3rd generation works well, attached are the pictures.
FWIW (it's been a year since I printed anything...) I've used PLA by MatterHackers / MH Build and MakerTree3D Both print fine, but you may have to modify the print temperature to optimize. There is a program by written by BuddyBu to manipulate the .cube3 print file; it may be mentioned somewhere in this thread. I suspect most any decent PLA will print ok. Different colors sometimes do better or worse. I've also used PETG; I like it a bit better than PLA. It seems a bit stronger/stiffer and a little more temperature resistant. One way to do that is to exchange the Cube's firmware to make it into an EcoCycle Cube and modifying the cartridge to change it into an EcoCycle cartridge. But this is a whole 'nother rabbit hole! Alternatively, you can slice it as PLA then modify the .cube3 file to adjust temperatures to suit PETG on the regular Cube 3. Long answer... probably more than you wanted to know!
I really appreciate all your help and info, knowledge is power, but impossible to know it all. From my short experience, setting up the printer has been very easy. All the software works perfectly even in Windows 11. The impossible and worse of it all are the filament cartridge. All the time I have spent is getting the filament to make it to the printer's head. It breaks easily, even by having the reel outside. Thank you for the info!
The problem is the 3DS media is so old now it has become brittle, partially because of moisture absorption. I think it might be possible to recover it somewhat by drying it out in an oven at low temperature (below it's melting point! Maybe 150F or so?) Have you found info about modifying the cartridges for feeding bulk filament, and replacing the bowden tubes, etc? There was another website www.print3dforum.com that had a wealth of Cube 3 info, but it seems to be offline now. Tom Diriwachter, who is on this thread, was the webmaster. I have some of the info and can share if you're interested.
I have been doing my search before asking as this is all new to me, but it is very unfortunate that the (( print3dforum )) is no longer available. There was a lot of valuable information there that is harder to find now. For example, the nozzle drill jig, file name: Drill_Fixture_15deg.zip. I wish I knew more, I am doing baby steps with this new toy. The attached pictures show my own inspiration MOD for the Cube3. With this set up I can use all the 6 cartridge even if the filaments are not in optimal condition. I open the nozzle and decided to do it my way, it is extremely basic. One hole going to the top and keep all the original tubing and connections. The mod requires, one hole in the nozzle and a bigger hole on the front cover of the cartridge. Total cost $ 0.00 (no extra parts need it, all stock) For the filament reel, I used PVC, cost $8 each. All works perfectly, perfect!
