Hello. I recently extended my open frame laser machine I have some 2020 and 2040 extruded aluminum that is not being used. I also have laser modules and power supplies sitting on a shelf not being used. I would like to build another open frame machine with the extruded and modules. Size would be appox. 600 x 600 mm. Where do I start?, as I am not seeing what I think I need in the parts store. I need corner braces, with legs, Y axis trollys with mounts for motors, X axis trolley for ganty. I have 3, nema 17 steper motors. Any suggestions and help is apprecieted.
You'd have to start with a mind adjustment. OpenBuilds is all about the Modular Build System. Think "lego / mechanno" We don't have "braces with legs" but we have corner connectors to join the frame up at the corners, and those corner connectors can absolutely get a short piece say 80mm long 20x20mm v-slot as a "leg" Browse the entire product catalog, checkout what we have, then spend some time pen-and-paper - draw up some concepts of how you can join our modular parts together to make whatever you need Draw inspiration from the Builds link above, as well as our Actuator builds Anythings possible, just join the modular parts together as needed, for example: Bolt a motor mount to a carriage plate Mini V Gantry Cart and Motor Mount Plate - NEMA 17 Stepper Motor 3 Way End Corner Connector with a short piece of 2020 for the leg V-Slot 20x20 Linear Rail Want it even stiffer, throw a couple Inside Outside Corner Bracket as diagonal braces on the leg and inside corners of the frame It's all there, just add imagination
There are legs here and mounting plates if you want to build it similar to the OpenBuilds Acro. ACRO Plate Set If you are looking for other parts that would be needed. the parts list for the Acro is here: OpenBuilds ACRO System Links to a build video, 3D model, and other stuff is here: ACRO System
