Probably an old controller that Isn't running Grbl 1.1? Grbl 1.1 came out in 2016 already, and uses the $J= jog command format.
hello Peter, when running gcode on my 1515, once in a while with no pattern, one of my y-motors (left or right motor) gets stuck only during jog. I adjusts motor screws tension, check wiring, swapped motors. I never was able to find a root cause. I can run jobs for day without issue, next day jog gets stuck while running the job.
Check that leadscrews are lubricated (dry/PTFE lubricant not oil) and Grubscrews on shaft couplers are tight. Slots clean etc (nothing that can cause binding / resistance) Try lowering Y axis acceleration and max rate in Grbl Settings
I used dry lubricant. I changed acceleration from 350 to 100 for a smooth ride. It works great. Thank you.
