Two 1500mm lengths bonded back to back would make one heck of a nice bridge beam for a wide format router table. :)

I have already orded 3 sections for the 600x600 Core X/Y printer i am working on! Now, if they can only get them here by Friday while I have Good Friday off. The Makerspace will be abuzz!

When can we get the file to 3D print parts for this?

A core xy sounds like a cool build @DiggerJ
As for the 3D file we are working up a new OpenBuilds Part resource section to make it easier to grab the parts your after for a build. It will be located under the OpenBuilds Parts of the Parts resources section here:
    http://openbuilds.com/resources/categories/openbuilds-parts.5/
Its going to take some time to post all the parts but in time we will have them all.
In the meantime you could download the SketchUp exporter that exports STL files right from SketchUp for 3D printing.
    https://extensions.sketchup.com/en/content/sketchup-stl
Hope that helps get the STL out for you for 3D printing. Thank you for your support and we can't wait to see how the guys at the hacker space make out with C-Beam!

I too have ordered a couple of these for use with a 3d printer I am working on ... happy to see parts posted in resources section in Sketchup files, hope these can be clean to convert directly to stl files without manifold problems.
With these solid rails, I am interested to try a completely stationary bed design.
Hope I can drive the Nema 23's directly with Rambo board ... which has a 2 amp max current.
    ... Forrest

The STL export works very nicely if the model is tight.
I think that you will not have problem driving the nema 23's with the 2A Rambo board.

I'm new to posting, so hope I'm not out of line with a suggestion here. I had an idea regarding the c-beam gantry plate. It may be overkill, but maybe one might consider making a wider version to accommodate two more wheels on each side, on the outside edges of the rail as well. Thanks for this site and all the possibilities.
Btw, those are pretty cool looking "Open Builds" plates you have mounted on the fronts of the actuators, are they going to be available as well?

    Excellent add on.

Any chance you could post the files in a more friendly format like step or solidwroks?

    Thanks

Thank you for the kind words and the feedback @Leo Septer
We have lots of C-beam plate ideas in the works ;)

Build video has been added to the Build page. Please excuse the over editing choppy bits :)
Hope this helps get a start

Mark, it would be great if you could sell it in 1500 mm length. Same goes for the lead screws. Thanks.

I can't imagine a 1500mm lead screw at 8mm being good for much. Even the TR8's would be able to make a crazy wobble in that screw.

I am using 16 mm dia. trapezoidal lead screws, approx. 1400 mm long, from Nook Industries. Diameter has more to do with load bearing, but I wasn't aware of the wobble.
There's a reason why it says 'new' under my picture (or so it should). Thanks for the tip, Digger.

This is something we are looking to testing, but I agree with Diggerj as I would think at that a length on 8mm you would see a sag translated to wobble when sped up.
So there is some experimenting to do, but having the longer lengths will be a nice addition.
Thank you for the feedback guys

Mark, perhaps you might want to consider selling larger diameter screws. Looking forward to that.

Longer, Longer...Yeah thats it! I gotta have a 1200x1200 printable area on the combination printer bed/break dancing plate! :p
I'm just gonna strap my fat butt on a X/Y axis and use a big caulking gun as it flings me around. Gotta find me som NEMA 4000's...

Don't forget to dring some xylene with that caulking gun.
Helps keep up the euphoria. :)

Somebody ought to invent a drink dispenser that bring one's beer right up to the horse's mouth.
Forget Bill Gates, that'll take us to the 22nd century on a shortcut.
Digger, keep nudity away from CNC's. Who knows, the spindle might start spinning the wrong way, or chase you all over that x/y axis.
Then you will have wished you had made them longer. :p

File Update to V7 (Files tab):
We received an email asking about using independently controlled belt and pinion gantry carts on the C-Beam. We had not even thought about the possibilities of using the independent axis using belt and pinion for the C-Beam but the cool news is that it can be done! We did a couple quick mock ups to see how they would work in the model and although the 20mm V plate will not fit (large wheels) side to side. There are a few that will work like the Mini V Plate as well as the V-Slot used as a gantry plate in combination with the corner cubes and 90 degree connectors. (see attached pics)
Hope this helps spark a few more ideas. Props for the feedback!

This is great news, Mark. Looking forward to the day when you come and say 'hey guys, now you can buy this sucker in 1500 mm size'.
Then I will finally get rid of my 2 x-axis and use a c beam.

In unrelated news, yet related, would it be possible to get wider pulleys?
9mm and 10mm wide pulleys are available, but openbuilds pulleys go only to 7, I think.
guitar string effect comes to mind.

    Hi @kram242
What is the travel length of the C-Beam Linear Actuator Bundle for the 3 type? (250, 500 & 1000 )
