I just received a new genmitsu 4040 Pro Max. It is homing fine and jogging in the correct directions but when I go to probe it alarms out when touching the probe. It is giving an Alarm 3

I just tried to replicate but it didn't error this time when touching just said it worked but didn't set the z zero and didn't pull back off of the surface like it does for my anolex. I just moved the z axis up and it alarmed.

I can't really find much info on this online except emi or someone who removed the offline controller ribbon. There isn't a ribbon connected. If anyone has an idea that would be great. I don't want to have to zero with paper.

Just tried to run a gcode and it is alarming and saying check limits.

I am thinking I didn't set up the machine correctly.

Tried to use a lead 1010 to write to the controller. That didn't work just all sorts of errors I reflashed back to the older setting and cycled power.

I did get the machine limits to transfer and everything works ok except for the probe. It can run gcode now with no alarms. It just fails at doing anything after the probe is engaged and then alarms when I move it as if I have hit a limit switch. which I haven't.

if you are using OpenBuidlsCONTROL then you should be using the troubleshooting tab to check that the probe works correctly *before* trying to probe.
should show green when not touching, red when touching

Yeah, I did that it works and triggers fine. but I didn't try to probe by just holding it which I probably should have but the machine stopped when it hit the probe it just triggered an alarm and didn't set the Z to zero. The prob is a three wire one that has lights on it that also indicate that it is correctly working.

In the trouble shooting under the buttons there are red start/on and hold/door on and RST/on. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Oh and yes using openbuilds control. I wouldn't be asking if I was using something else lol hey can you help me with another software and machine. Sorry I didn't make that clear. They suggest UGS but I prefer openbuilds.

well, all buttons should be green before running a job, so you need to sort that out.

Not sure how to address those buttons. Everything works fine in UGS so I guess I will just use that.

if you give us more information we can help you more:
1 - screenshot of the troubleshooting status
2 - upload of the GRBL settings backup ('upload a file' button at bottom right of the screen when you are making a message here).
3 - exact version of GRBL your controller has installed (displayed on the serial console just after CONTROL connects to the controller).
