    Howdy,

Akll of a sudden, I cannot connect to my Ratrig Stronghold through the blackbox x32 via USB and My Macbook. This has never happened before and before posting this I have tried to follow the instructions recommended on some different but similar threads. I have tried different USB-cables and also disconnecting everything except power and USB. Also, MacOS seems to recognize that there is something connected via USB but nothing can be connected in OB Control.

Please help, this is so frustrating.

    /Alex

Hi and thank you. Yes, i have read the documentation you refer to, which led me to test without anything connected. (I assume I still have to have the power supply connected though). So, since the problem remains - next step is to test with a different computer or assume the controller has been damaged and need to be exchanged?

    Thanks again.

Correct, if its been damaged a) find what damaged or plugging in a new one will just damage it again right away, then b) order a new controller and install it
Hopefully its a computer problem, easiest test is indeed to try a different computer

Hey guys. Thanks again for the help. So, the computer swap sorted out the problem, and using a PC seems fine. I found that some wiring was out or disturbed, which I think - like you indicated - affected the USB. I will also go back and try my Macbook, now that the wiring issue is good, since this would suit me better than a PS. however - it works!

Another question has caught me, however. When doing double sided machining I usually do indexing pins and the like. However - I would like to try a different method - probing for origin in bottom left (default i guess) for one side, then flipping the workpiece along the Y axis, setting the next origin at front left, and the probing there. This would in theory be as exact but save alot of setting up. However - being somewhat of a novice I dont understand how to create a probing action for front left, similar to the wizard. I realize that it is possible to probe front left and the use the offsets, however this would add to tolerance I think. Any help would be great!

    Thanks!

You could build a G38 macro like https://github.com/OpenBuilds/OpenB...ster/app/wizards/interface/PROBE/PROBEXYZ.PRB (noting to replace <x/y/zoffsets> with probe dimensions and endmill diameters accounted for) - this one is the macro Interface uses to probe front-left-top-of-stock corner - but has comments, so you should be able to figure out which commands to change to move the opposite/mirrored directions

Just think through the moves it has to do, one by one

Alignment pins and centered flips are the far more used standard though

Ok. Thanks, I will look into it.

Unfortunately, things have not improved regarding the connection between my macbook and the X32. So far I have tested a Windows PC which works and another Mac (older OS) which works. I have updated the OS to Sequoia and I have tried 3 different cables and adapters - nothing will make the CNC show up in the list in OBC. Also - when I connect to the USB I can see the connection in my system information. This is very frustrating.

At least that points to an issue with that specific Mac then

Either try to use a different more reliable computer (can probably find a free-to-pickup PC on Craigslist) or look into fixing that one.

Maybe cleanup Silicon Labs VCP drivers on it macos silicon labs vcp drivers cleanup - Google Search
