Hi all, I just got my blackbox and interface hooked up and I believe I screwed up wiring the spindle power supply and shorted the box. Blackbox powers on fine but has lost connectivity to interface or control. Is it just completely ruined or is there a way to repair it? I know they are sold out and the business is closing so I am hoping I can repair it or find someone to sell me another blackbox x32 Thank you for time - an idiot
If neither PC nor interface detects the microcontroller to be alive, it likely is dead, and sadly no, we never offered a repair service. If you do, the trouble - usually - is that the damage can propogate - damaged more than just the ESP32, can damage more chips along the way - sorry! Especially if you perhaps accidentally put spindle power into a signal port - then higher voltage pushed through the whole board in reverse, can cause lots of damage
Out of curiosity Peter, I have an amazon spindle and power supply, pic below of the power supply. The 0-10v connections worked as it should controlling the speed. But this thing wont fully turn off unless that on/off is disconnected. If they are bridged it operates fine but wont fully stop because the 0-10v showed .4v when spindle off was selected. So how would you wire it to work correctly? Just wire those two to a physical switch? I tried to wire in an IoT relay and on/off it like a router but thats how it shorted out. I tried all sorts of ways to wire the relay but couldnt get it to work. Thank you for your help.
Odd, the IoT has really good optical isolation built in - never seen that form part of damage - at least not if wired as per documentation. You can possibly wire that via RELAY1 - that is the tool enable/disable relay I have seen those PSUs cause damage via the 0-10v section before though, hopefully designs improved these days, but if not, have seen that cause issues before
Seems like the intelligent thing to do would be to just buy one of the vfd's shown in the directions. I had to scower the internet and found a new blackbox from the uk and paid out the *** for it.
