So, I have a 600x600mm piece of polished granite that will be the heated print surface for "Rack Daddy". I want to heat it using mains power and switched via SSR. I need ideas for heating and insulating the bottom side. Discussing nichrome wire or other ideas, but need an insulated substrate for the area under the heating element and granite. Anyone wanna chime in with ideas or experience?
You could probably use cardboard to insulate the bottom. I made a similar setup, but used 1/8" aluminum plate instead. I used my RAMPs bed output to control the SSR I had connected to a 120VAC high temp fiberglass heat tape:
