Looks great @Iwan Müller nice and neat and I really like the way the controller turned out as well as the idea for the stand alone estop.
Well done my friend, thank you for sharing.

Iwan, those linear guides are awesome, that's a great find. Do you recall how much they cost per foot and how much the carriages were? Also, any chance you will post a STEP file of the whole assembly?

@Iwan Müller do you have an STL file of the whole build that you can share? I see the spindle mount, but not the full system.

@mrjoedave I updated the spindle mount file and added an other 3-D printed piece (Mitnehmerschlitten) for the X-Axe, but the whole design is too large a file.

any comment on the stability of the rails you used vs the C-beam linear actuators? I really think the wheel system would be a weak point compared to proper bearings. but then again, so will the lead screws with plastic nuts.

A great looking project! It is exactly what I am envisioning for my future project. My congratulations to you for building it and not only building this one, but it is not your first. I am still learning and getting nerve up to start my first project.

Do you run into any problems with the side stability? What I mean is at the top of the side rails, there does not seem to be anything stopping them from moving in and out laterally?

    hi Dean
Thanks. The Linear-Rails and the Igus-Rail screwed together are quite rigid so I don't experience stability problems there. As with all machines somewhere is the weakest link, but as creator of your own machine you can always improve your own design. Right now I'm going to improve my machine: The 8mm Lead-screw for the Y-Axis with a length of 1000mm tend to oscillate quite a bit and need to be replaced by something stronger. Good luck and lots of good times with your project!

I really like your build, Iwan, very elegant. I'm thinking of using the Openbuilds 1000mm 8mm ACME lead screw to upgrade my own machine, and would be interested to know how fast you're running your Y-axis when it starts to oscillate. Thanks in advance,

    Steve

    Hi Steve

I will work on the machine next weekend and will give you the exact numbers then. The problem occurs when the machine is near either end of the Y-axis and a longer part of the lead screw is not guided.
