Does anyone know where to get a drill chuck with a straight shank suitable for mounting in an ER16 collet? I think I can hold a 1/4" shaft, but I am unable to find anything that looks like it will work. Any ideas?

check out http://www.littlemachineshop.com/ They stock all the parts to replace on mini lathes and mills in their stock. They also have a huge quantity of items that can be used for different uses. Like making a safe Vertical Mill from a Drill Press. Which I have done.

Thanks, that's what I need. I had seen the Jacobs chucks and was thinking I'd have to go to a machine shop and have a bolt lathed.

I'd suggest lodging a jam nut up against the back side to keep the head stable. Let us know how it all works out and if runout is within acceptable tolerances.
