Hi I am having trouble with juddery motion at slow feedrates such as 150mm/min. there is also an audible pulsing sound along with the bumpy movement, any ideas? Thank you
reduce your number of microsteps. I have some motors that do this, a distinct pulsing motion at 16x microstepping, very non-linear, even under no load.
Thank you that is very helpful, what level of microstepping would you recommend for best performance?
4x or 8x the lower the number of microsteps the more power you have, and the better it can hold those in between positions. however, that does increase step size, but then I wonder if we need as much as we get. ie, do we really need step sizes in the 0.01mm region? or is 0.1mm more than enough? if you are doing engravings with small features then maybe you do need 0.01mm, if you are doing model airplane parts then, no, you don't (-:
