Because I had a longer belt and because that height would have been too high.

Can you show us how it will be used with the C Beam machine, and perhaps in action?
    Cheers

well now, SketchUcam is very affordable (free) and can control A,B and C, though not for continuous 5 axis motion.
however, for each gcode file you generate you can set the A B and C and they will go to the set positions before cutting starts, and back to 0 at the end of the file.
this makes it possible to machine 5 faces of something held in that chuck using standard SketchUcam techniques and the Gcode joiner.

so, I think Fusion360 might do 5 axis (also free for some uses) and there may be others, but 5 axis geometry is complicated, so you will probably have to pay for it.

    Hello,

I'm very interested in what your working on and would also like to build one for myself. My needs are a fourth axis so not nearly as sophisticated as working with an additional axis.

Would you perhaps add some additional pictures and of course any comments on your progress.

    Thanks,

    Lee

There is a hobbyist version DeskProto "true multi 5 axis" CAM software for about $350 (US, instead of ... 1000$ to get the right to use in a commercial maner). I bumped into it over at MakeCNC as I was looking for something ... Deskproto True multi 5 Axis CAM software

    Hello cureac,
    very cool build!
With which firmware you control the 5 axis?
According to my knowledge, GRBL can only control 3 axes and the marlin firmware is for cnc operation not as good.

I am looking forward to your answer!

In fact the cnc usb controller mk3 9 axis from planet cnc have a proprietary software for cutting, milling etc

    Description ( from planet cnc)
CNC USB controller offers wide variety of output and input signal functions, that meets the demand of the most complex DIY router or CNC milling machine. There are also some features like automatic tool length measure, automatic tool change, camera offset measure that speed up setup process of machining.

    Hello cureac,

thank you for this nice information!
I will try to set up my own machine with that controller!
This sounds very professional and comes with lot of features in one program!

Do you have more pictures or information of your machine and your A/B Table?
