I install the third extension on my cnc router and ask me, what can I do with a laser? So I make some test and find out - >>It is possible to engrave jeans clothes<<. Create your own Designer Jeans with a Laser!

    Fantastic ! Can't wait to try it ... not sure I have the right laser, but I do have some old pairs of jeans I can test on before the wife and daughter get wind of this 'trick' for myOX.

    Great work..two questions: does the engraved pair of jeans suffer and weak texture problems after the engraving process? 2- Have you tried it on microfiber jerseys? If you create an adjustment table for different fabric this could be a nice patent

    I have been engraved some jeans, but I find never "suffer and weak texture problems after the engraving process".

    At time, I made the engraving test only on jeans.


    A patent may only be registered if the invention is novel.

    My solution is just one way for home users, to design/ engrave his own jeans.

    Nice idea, I think it can be possible.
    The hardest part would be to find someone who programmed the software.
    But I'm not sure if that's appropriate for DIY. A strong Laser are very dangerous!

    Currently I have to do some projects and have no time to figure a DIY version.

    I have developed a stable version of cable wire system better than the one shown below in the video.


    Do you think it is a good idea to h ook a laser tube head in this design for commercial small business

    Hello Mohamed,
    it is very easy to upgrade a "Normal" 3D Printer to a Laser/ Print combination. The most 3D Printer have only a work area from 200x200mm (it is small for a Laser).

    I think a good basis for a small business is, when you create combi from a Laser and 3D Printhead. Both applications do not require a high expenditure of force and so you can use your "stable cable wire version".
    It is always better for the user to have one maschine for all kind of work.

    I like CNC Combo - Machines (3D Print, Laser, Mill .... what ever).
    I can change easy the tools on my machine:

    That is a great build. I was thinking of making mine a combo machine that can do all three, as well.

    Yes, I like to share the my Drag Knife with you. But the build is not finished yet, I have only my Test Results.
    I miss a Spring in the axis - for a constant pressure to cut.

    It's still too early, to publish half-finished buildings - as well as the Drag Knife.

    At the Christmas holidays, I will try to take some time to write an posting about a reference sensor for the Z axis (Automatic leveling for all kinds of tools).
    This project is also in progress and not complete yet (I think the Sensor size can be smaller). Perhaps we can find an optimal solution together?

    The video shows the handling of the sensor.

    Hi mrarmyant,
    for the x and y Axis you set the zero point with a limit switch, but how can you get the zero position for the z Axis?
    You have different thickness of material to mill and when you change the tool, you have also a other z Axis positon.
    With the Sensor, you can define the zero position of the piece automaticly.

    Times flows fast! Last year, I would write a post about the Sensor, but I have forgot it! :blackeye:

    So Cool! The drag knife makes me wonder if a tool head with markers can be used to make complex t-shirt designs. im thinking something like a gatling gun where the marker colors are all in the head and the chosen color pops down to engage the material.

    in the past I use my DIY 3D Printer "Big Size" (I have sell it last week).

    AK, I see you used about 10% power with your 2.8W laser. I have a 2.3W so I am thinking 15% would be about equivalent. I am curious if you ever tried higher power, but used a faster feed rate (and what results you had)? The design I am thinking about will take "forever" at 350mm/min, so I am considering a higher power (say 30-40%) but increasing the feed rate. What problems might I run into?
