VOTE ABOVE! Which do you prefer? Folks seem to be firmly in one camp or another. What would you use for your next ultimate build?
X2 on price but I do like the way some of the builds look with black rail and silver brackets. If cost is close I will probably go that route. Maybe even order a few colored slot covers to pimp my cnc.
Depends on the project. If it is strictly a utility project silver is fine. When looks count however I go with whichever is most appropriate to the project at hand.
Strictly "Classic Silver" for me - scratched black rails over time just look terrible. Also you don't need to bother trying to hide the cut ends.
While i personally prefer the aesthetic appeal of a clean build with all black extrusions. It does get scratched and the ends show when cut so for a work machine or prototype that will see a lot of handling or disassembly and reassembly I prefer silver. Like Rick I tend to choose the the right one for the build at hand.
You might see if they can bag them individually in clear poly bags rather than the seven layers of tightly wrapped film and foam and tape they currently use. With it taking less effort to unwrap them, customs would likely be far less pissed off and as they can see through the bags would have no reason to go any further.
Hey @MaryD, I know I'm a little crazy, but what about bringing some bright Colour into your lives. But if I must choose... I would go the transparent anodising to be honest to the V-Slot material for most things and black for printers just because black printers look cool with printed colour accents; so both have their place. ps. I want bright green
So having first gone to school for photography I have to say that extra reflective surfaces do not help a shoot, so black is the only way to go for those and out of habit everything else unless it's not practical.
If your a confident bloke then it don't matter, what people think... pink was the traditional colour for blokes until the recent change to blue for boys, pink for girls of modern fashion So now I want bright Pink.
I like the colors and you know rose gold is hitting everything these days. I'd think red or electric blue would be great...or @Moag 's bright green!
Soon on OpenBuilds partstore (JOKE!): OpenPaint in shiny black, extra coverage, smoother surface! More tones and colors to come, stay tuned! -Ronald
