Have had the Xpro V3 for a couple of months as part of my recently completed Ox cnc build and have not used it much as I have been concentrating on the Cad software side and learning how to design items to cut. Fired it up this morning to do my first serious cut and I find I cannot jog the motors. There is the normal clunk from the motors when I power up but nothing when I try and jog via Universal Gcode sender although it is recognised and will also allow me to change $$ values etc. When I send move commands to the Xpro it does not respond apart from an initial hum from the motors, from memory I am sure that green lights lit up on the corresponding ports on the Xpro when commands were sent but this is not happening, the Xpro is just continuosly flashing red lights. I have pressed the reset button on the xpro but this changes nothing, and the $$ settings are unchanged. I presume this is a board issue unless someone knows any different. If I need to reflash the board could someone offer some advice as to the ight firmware to use for Xpro V3?. Cheers
Hello Billy. Thank you for your post. We just wanted to let you know that we reached out to Spark Concepts, the creators of the xPRO Board and expect them to get back to you shortly regarding your questions. We hope this helps and we appreciate your support!
Hi Billy, Mike here from spark concepts - sorry to hear you are having issues. It sounds like it is probsbly a settings issue. Could you email me ([email protected]) a picture of your board and your $$ settings? Or post them here. Thanks, Mike
Hi Mike, Thanks for your reply Mike. I will Email you what you require, UK time here so it might be a few hours before you get them. Many thanks.
Hello Billy. Thank you for your response. Our pleasure! If there is anything else that we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to ask. We appreciate your support! Thank you, OpenBuilds Team
Hi Billy, I haven't received the email yet - our server has been picky lately with international emails for some reason... Anyways, I'll pm you a Dropbox link for the info. Thanks, Mike
Hey Mike, If you PM to Billy I need similar help. I get the initial "clunk" but no movement and the LEDs just flash once and only the Z led flashes after that.
Hey Mike, Sorry it was me. I thought I had the poles figured out on the steppers but I was wrong. Started over checked all poles switched what I needed to and all three axis respond to jogging fine. Thanks rob.
Hi. I have same problem. Can you help me out if possible. I have a ooznest 1.5x1.5. Was working fine. Then 1 morning was gonna do a proper cut. Turned on motirs locked. I reset the axis and started. And machine went all way across x and you to top corner. I checked $$ settings and they all went back to default. When I change $1=25 to $1=255 the board turns off. Only lights are power inlet lights and usb. Have now released the v1.1 but exactly the same. Can you help. Cheers. Jason
Hi Jason, Could you shoot me a pm with your $$ settings and a picture of your board powered on? Likely you will need to flip the $4 setting (if it is 0 set it to 1, if it is 1 set it to 0) Thanks, Mike
Mate your a star. Now all controls run back to front. Does that mean I have to rewire it? Many many many thx. Jason Constable
Hi Jay, Excellent news! You can set the direction invert mask ($3 setting) instead of rewiring. Here is a link to the info on github Configuring Grbl v0.9 · grbl/grbl Wiki · GitHub In short the mask is 00000ZYX for inverting (for example $3=3 will invert Y and X). Please let me know if you have any questions! Last question - which sender program are you using?
Using ugs at moment. Waiting on couple bits so I can get mach3 working. Many thx for your help. Jason
Hi Jay, Just a heads up, but the board won't work with mach3 - all the gcode interpretation is done in board so you only need a simple sender like ugs, grbl panel, etc
Hi I'm having similar problems with my XPRO V3 (GRBL V0.9). I set up the machine and ran the first jog tests. All seemed fine so I created a drawing to test with a marker pen. When I set the machine up I tested the jog again prior to running the Gcode. I've found now that it won't jog at all. The stepper motors were locking up when powered on and I had LEDs showing on power in, 5v and all four stepper motor connectors. When I pressed the jog for say the Y+ all the LEDs went out and UGS showed it was running. When it reached 20 steps the LEDs came back on, but it had not moved. Things have changed again now. The stepper motors are no longer locking when powered on and the only LEDs on are the power in and 5v. Help please.
Likely your enable ($4) settings is inverted. Check them by sending $$ to the board, find the $4 output, and flip it ($4=1 if currently set to 0).
