I own a Craftbot 3D printer, a great machine, but the controller is not open source. I would use the Smoothieboard to make it open and add automated levelling + second extruder.

I built a C-Bot 3d printer using all openbuilds hardware little over two years ago, it's currently powered with a RADDS\Due combo, but I'm a big sucker for firmwares, and I'd love to get into smoothie.

I also have an x-carve CNC, powered by a little grbl box: I'm interested in modding it to use a laser engraver, and I know smoothie would be a great way to drive both the CNC and the laser, so it'd be a welcome upgrade to that tool.

I already have all the parts for alice clementine but the next printer whom the kids in blue team have named bianca clementine, or her red team sister cupcake clementine need brains.

I would combine two Smoothieboards with custom firmware to control a custom built "independent quad-extruder" 3d printer. 3 printheads for filament, 1 printhead for lasercutter. So it's a combinded 3D printer and laser cutter.

I would make my cnc router finally, complete with multi- tool function. Laser, plasma, mill, 3d printer. C-beam of course!

I've got an Achatz Easy delta, which i'm slowly upgrading bit by bit.
    for now I have:
-upgraded the hotend with a 1730 hotend
-changed the linear smooth rods for mgn12 rails
-some minor visual changes like wiring better endstop holder and LED lights

I'm still planning to make an enclosure out of acrylic and off course upgrading to a 32bit controller
    Hopefully in the near future

My next build will most likely be a 3D printer, so probably that.

Right now I am working on an OX but the platemaker or a upgrade to a laser engraver seems like a good next project.

I am in the process of designing parts for a small footprint, 4 in one, multi-attachment cnc machine. The machine when finished will have the following attachments; 3D extruder and heat bed for 3D printing, Demel tool for routing, Laser for engraving and a pen lathe for turning pen blanks and other small objects.

The machine will have a footprint no more than 14" X 24". It might seem to be an impossible thing to build, but if I can dream about it day in and day out, I can say without a doubt that I will find a way to build it using Openbuild parts, parts that I have designed and made, as well as, parts that I have sourced from other suppliers.

I am building the machine for a good cause. My wife is disabled and has not been able to work for several years and since she was denied disability more times than what I can count on both hands. My wife has dreams of making some fancy jewelry to help our family financially but needs this machine to do so. Helping my wife to see her dream become a reality is my motivation to continue to build this machine. I am gonna make this build happen no matter what the outcome of this contest is. Being selected to receive the Smoothieboard 5xC v1.1 will literally shave off 6 to 9 months of saving to buy a similar part for the build and I could even finish the build before the end of summer other wise it will be sometime in 2018.

I am sure there is one or two of y'all who are interested in seeing how this table beast turns out. Stay tuned perhaps I will share a little something after April 4th. I would share a picture but I don't have any just yet.

I am designing a CNC plasma cutter based on a commercial plasma cutter and a 1500mm by 1500mm bed for cutting sheet metal into designs that will be copper plated. The #smoothieboard is the perfect board to drive this design. Parts have been selected from the #openbuild shop and the design is ready for the next step.

I would like to use the Smoothieboard for a lathe/mill combo build using Openbuilds components of coarse. Thanks to the entire team at Openbuilds for all you do on a daily basis. Because of your efforts, we have the opportunity to turn our dreams into reality. Thanks again!,

I was going to build a smoothie machine, but then I read the description. I'd totally upgrade my mdf cnc and build something more solid for my hobby wood shop.

If I were to win this gem I'd be using it to replace my rather "tired" RAMPS board on my PhlatBot 3D Printer!!

I'd love to add the Smoothieboard to my next next build, Keith's TrueUP Glide, which is published here.

The main reason would be to simply learn something new.... and the fact that I think that the board may well improve the results.

    Regards

    Christian

I forgot to put why I would build it. I would build an OX because I have been wanting to make a CNC router for a long time. I would love to be able to make signs, plaques, PCBs, model airplanes, you name it. There are so many things that a CNC router would allow me to create. Winning the smoothie board would go a long way towards helping me reach this dream. Thanks!
