working on my 3D printer crane style with IDEX (independent dual extrusion). At the moment it is working quite well with single extrusion. but the goal is to make this IDEX :) See below rendering done in Fusion 360 Double_X_Crane_v3.png Double_X_Crane_v2.png Double_X_Crane_v1.png

Funds are tight so this would be super amazing but I'd use this for my new CNC router/laser cutter build :)

I will use it in my first CNC machine that I'm building this year here in South Africa. It will be based on the C-Beam Sphinx XL running with 1.9Nm Nema 23 motors.

I use the Smoothieboard for a stardard I3 PrusaSteel. I had used Controller with Atmel 8bit Chip with has not the performance like the Smoothieboard.
My first "Smoothieboard" was a "MKS sBase" with is very poor in quality! After 2-3 weeks of worke the MKS sBase burned out. Never again a sBase!
The original Smoothieboard I used now works perfectly and very reliable!
For my future projects (CoreXY-3D printer, CNC-Milling Machine, CNC Lasercutter) I will only use the original Smoothieboard!

Still learning and collecting part design for D-bot Corexy remix, maybe with linear rail upgrade.
And Smoothieboard definitely will go in that machine.

I'm in the process of mapping out a CNC router build and winning the board will speed things up and will give me a good amount of breathing space as I'm on a student's budget.
Alternatively I'd go for a high-end delta configuration in order to experiment with high speeds.

I would put the Smoothie in my home build custom designed CNC gantry router. or in my large delta printer also home build custom designed.

Seems a waste to get a 5 axis board and only use half of 'em. So... 5 axis mill, VMC style. The CAM is the limiting factor on those builds, but thanks to Fusion 360, it's reasonably doable.

I work as an MHE mechanic. I would like to build a three axis router with two axis accessory capabilities built completely from salvaged parts, including the linear motion. I will document the origin of all of the parts used. I would like a tight build with minimal deflection on a table size of approximately 2' by 4'. (600mm by 1200mm)

Have built a delta. Well on m 3rd version of the delta. 1st was a very cheap kit from the east. The second was a Folger Tech kit (rev b). Now rebuilding from parts from both, but have added a real E3D V6 hotend and a Bltouch to the mix. Really like delta style, but the ramps is limited. Need a better board to run it.

I would put it on the CoreXY printer that I'm working on because the math needed to handle the CoreXY motors would allow faster printing speeds than what RAMPS can currently supply.

Instead of using it for single purpose machine, I would create a machine around the board that will use different heads/modules for different uses (3D printing, Laser Etching, Cutting, small CNC ...)

I am building a large Delta 3D printer with 1500mm rail travel and 330mm heated bed. It will have a 1mm hardened steel nozzle and use a modified bowden feed that keeps the filament feed motor weight off the head, but keeps the tube length down. I'd use the Smoothie board to drive it.

I am currently in the process of building a large format core XY 3d printer/laser Cutter/ CNC mill with swapable and modular heads. I would use it on this because of it's flexibility to be all three.

I'd pair it with my modified Cobblebot Vanguard, built with v-slot and many Openbuilds parts.
