I havent tried to actually print at this speed. I have doubts it would work.. especially with PETG, I will attempt it with PLA..with a thin layer height its very solid and doesnt wobby much. but the X gantry does have more weight then i would like since its using a full size Nema 17 Stepper and the Y has Double MGN12 Rails which gives it alot of mass.
I have only tried bowden myself but that has a lot of its own issues. could a geared nema 17 lighten the head a bit and still generate the torque needed?
I am using a E3D Titan which has a 3:1 gear ratio and they use it with a Small Nema 17 (Pancake) but the one i got didnt work so i put in a full size one for now, until i get another pancake 17, they dont weigh much. Bowden is a pain in the butt.
Yeah. lol in my Boden-Ventures i've even gone as far as oil my tube to try to reduce the friction. theres lots of hang ups there.
I am also attempting this build. I have had the required parts lying around, as I was going to build a D-Bot, but I really wanted a fixed build plate and the ability to add an enclosure in the future, and your build just fits the bill of everything I'm looking for! Just cut everything and am starting assembly of the frame tonight. One difference is that I'm using OpenRails for the XY rails instead of the MGR rails, but other than the carriage, that doesn't seem to be of any large effect. I'm following your progressive updates the the a360 my hub page, though between that, the pictures and videos, and the actual stl files available I think I have it all just about figured out. Also, does anybody know how to get the dimensions of an object in a360? I can get volume and density, but I really want length, width and height, so that I can be sure of which screws go where etc without having to guess and test forever trying different ones out. Thanks for any assistance, and for putting together such an amazing build! I'll definitely post pictures as I go along and get things rolling!
"does anybody know how to get the dimensions of an object in a360" In Fusion 360, load your project, click on "Inspect" at the top, then click "Measure" HTH
Thanks! I've got the frame almost assembled, and I'm finishing up the gantry as well. I modified the dimensions a little bit to make it larger, but that's mostly just changing the extrusion lengths, so being able to measure things in the model will be a huge help. I don't know if you guys have heard of Mechaduino, but I backed them on Kickstarter a year or so back and got my motors a few months ago, and I'm using three of my six on this build, with the idea of the closed loop being great, but the real benefit being the magnetic encoding allowing for just about unlimited resolution while maintaining speed and torque. I'll probably start with them as drop in replacements using stepper drivers, but at some point I'd like to just route the dir/step data direct and let the onboard controller sort it, which should also allow for much greater resolution as well as reporting feedback on resistance or skipped steps to the firmware so it can correct itself if it skips steps or is interfered with. The idea being that it could immediately interrupt the other motors, correct itself, then resume the print hopefully without any visible issues.
Hi! This model looks super interesting. Any updates on build progress or how it's working out? Any place to find more info?
Good Luck on your Builds. cant wait to see some photos. Tip. use a Picture Frame clamp to make sure its nice and square. I havent used the machine for a few months, unfortunately. been focusing on other things. last time i did use it.. its super solid. compared too my previous prusa printer,
Thanks a lot! After reading through all the documentation etc. I couldn't figure out how your gantry works. Is it still using V Slot rails? Or is it using C Beams?
Also, I'm planning to use an E3D v6 with a Bowden. Do you think that would be a smart design? I don't plan to use flexible filaments
I originally build it using 40x40 for the Verticals and 20x20 and 20x40 for the gantry Later on i ended up adding Linear ball Slides, But this wasnt necessary and did add alot of weight I would suggest to save yourself some frustration to go with Direct drive with A E3D Titan and V6 in my experience Bowden is always way more work to tweak to get retraction right to reduce blobs.
Thanks. Since I'm ordering all my parts from China, the Titan would end up way too expensive for now. I'd love to add it, but I couldn't find any Chinese clones unfortunately.
I have the titan and it works great. They just came out with a new one (titan aero) that is allinone and includes the hot end/heatsink in a more compact form factor...you don't need to have an e3dv6 hanging underneath it. Jury is still out on how good it is, but it's still an interesting thing to look into....Less dangling weight?? Titan Aero (1.75mm 24V)
Working on a new version, trying to only use Openbuilds components. so far cannot be 100% openbuilds, The top belt loop is special, also the Gt2 Pulleys with 8mm Bore, and the Extruder/BL Touch Still just a quick rough assembly. Have a look here A360
Hello Already build two large bot with open build, I am curious about this D bot. is there d bot stl files for 2020 profiles? Thank you, mat?
Anymore updates on this? Im really interested in making a large version of the linear rail version. I tried your 360 files, but they seem to have most parts missing.
been using the machine, no updates really.. not really planning on updating with new files any time soon. biggest issues so far have been keeping wires heading to extruder out of the way., great machine overall.
Thinking about building one of these! Does anyone have pics of prints they could share? Is the print quality worth the effort vs. A comparably priced off the shelf machine? The fixed bed is appealing for accuracy reasons.
I would really love to see other people's builds and prints. Would like to make a 500x500 or 600x600 but with a belted linear railed Z on the 4 corners, linear rails on top of extrusions for XY along with a Titan Aero. Torn between this fixed bed corexy beauty, all metal 500mm Kossel Delta or 500mm Tevo Little Monster inspired delta.
I updated the summary of the this build with current info. and also uploaded fusion 360 files. Right now this printer is pretty printing super well.
hello from Argentina Excellent project, is this machine currently in force? Are there photos of the result of the unpredictability?
