Go over to Thingyverse and click on any design. A 3D printing service will be on the page. They'll hook you up with a local printer.
I got all the printed parts from www.protobuilds.com, (who is the original poster for the build). Life keeps getting in the way so I haven't started putting my build together yet but the parts I received look to be excellent quality and arrived in a timely manner.
It took a couple of months, but I am nearly finished with my Ox build. Testing and calibrating before finishing the wiring and such. My first complicated test print came out way better than expected.
Awesome build. I really like the simplicity. Are you using those steel clip belt tensioners? I'm told they really mess up 3d prints (atleast they did on my D-Bot Core XY). Also how are you keeping the nozzle leveled with the bed all the time?
Hey guys, I was asked about this design on another site(proper credit given) and I thought I would show you guys what I did with mine..... Overkill I know!
The Y axis has a belt tensioner built into the idler pulley block. The X axis I am tensioning manually. I am using manual bed leveling at the moment. Still a little way to go before I can call my build complete.
Built my VoxelOX recently, opted for 3 V wheels on the carriages and 4 Solid style wheels on the plate. Performs really well. The most trouble i've had was calibrating my extruder, learnt many hard lessons about temperatures, extrusion multipliers and print speeds. I still need to wire in a blower fan as im getting blistering and internal sagging on my prints where the temperature isn't dropping quickly enough on each layer. Using a Smothieboard 4x and 24V PSU. What dimentions does the parts list build? is it the 8x8x8? i would like to do the 16x16x16. is there an updated list for that? Go big or go home.
If you want to go bigger you're gonna have to scale up the XYZ V-slots and belts and Threaded-rods by an extra 8 inches
Does anyone know where i would get a 400x400mm heated bed, build plate and the power supply to run it? i may need to use a relay from the Ramps board i would think so i didnt burn it all up. I have had a 3d printer for a couple years now, then i bought a Hictop kit and things were always breaking, so i want to build myself a nice one with quality parts so it will last. My Wanhao Di3 fried the main board because the connectors on the board werent rated high enough for the heat bed. i sent that in for warranty. then my hictop power supply just instantly stopped working when i just got ninjaflex working perfectly.
I am modifying my printer to utilize duel extrusion....but with only one hot end. I was an investor in a kickstarter project call Prometheus. I don't know if they ever shipped anything, but I got my money back and decided I could build the system myself and so I did. I just completed the high power Bowden extruders. They use a 5:1 geared stepper motor along with a very large gear. The extruders are aluminum and will mount on my x-axis carriage. They will move up and down with the Z axis so the Bowden tubing length is held to a minimum. The filament "V" guide is something I made so if you want the files, let me know.
Just letting everyone know we updated the Parts list (BOM) on the top of the description pages. Voxel OX 8" BOM spreadsheet Sorry for not having writing a reply to this thread sooner!!!
Hi guys! Hope you could help me with this. Last year I bought all the parts to build this 3d printer but I life took over and I had no availability to build it until now. Unfortunately I didn't save the assembly instructions (collection of pictures and some details) and the openbuilds.org is now throwing an error on the page I believe it contains the instructions: Build List | OpenBuilds Has anyone saved these and would mind sharing it with me? (I can also try to look into someone's build and figure it out) Thank you a ton Luis
Hi Luis, Glad you liked the build! There's a problem with the build page right now. I've contacted OpenBuilds about the issue, but not gotten a response yet. For now, it can be viewed on Internet Archive here until it's fixed or posted somewhere else. Voxel OX - Extendable 3D Printer and CNC Platform
Hey guys the Build page has been updated ( Thank you @Marshall Peck ) * Voxel OX - Extendable 3D Printer and CNC Platform * Voxel OX 8" parts list spreadsheet
Hey Mark, **edit** all fixed. thanks. It looks like the votes got reset recently. It seemed fine after re-activation. This Internet Archive link shows at least "14 votes" as of several months ago. I recall there being at least that many votes (it was the first rated build) and all of a sudden not any shown. Wondering why/if. Not a super big deal. Just something weird I noticed. Thanks, Marshall
I don't have a mount for that per-se. I think you could just mount it sideways on one of the extrusion arms with some M3 t-nuts. That might require an extra bracket, but I think it can all be done with hardware w/o 3D printing or maybe some extra drilling. Looks like a good extruder choice, though
I'd be planning on expanding a little bit as well, just to use some standard dimensions. Is there enough "wiggle room" on Y that mounting sideways is unlikely to give me less than the full print area? I'm presuming I might have to extend those 2020 arms to compensate
Of course, I'm thinking about using a printed mount that fits on a folgertech i3 clone that uses hiwin rails and 2020 for X gantry. If kept at 500mm, I'm thinking it wouldn't flex with just a titan aero on it.
Can you share info on what you have going with the tablet? Is that direct connected to the 23 bit main board? I think I see a flamewheel down there. XD I use my printer primarily for drone part prototyping. ;-)
