I’m making a desktop CNC machine based on the C-Beam platform. It will be driven by Tr8 Lead Screws, and initially made from 12mm birch ply plates.

    Very creative way of doing things, by using wooden parts to get a functional machine that can then make more permanent parts out of stronger materials. Kudos!

    Thanks! The next video is probably going to be a little longer than the other, as I'll be fitting and wiring the steppers, a sub waste-board and wiring and programming the VFD.

    Great build. You would not happen to have a link to the adapters that you used for the water tubes per chance would you. I have the same spindle and the little barbs just feel way to flimsy.

    Savvas, love your videos. There's something oddly comforting about your voice in a non-gay kind of way. :) You wouldn't have any trouble cutting aluminum. My sphinx has a larger cutting area and had all 3D printed plates, and I was able to cut 3/8" aluminum slowly with .2 mm passes and a 500mm/m feeds. It's more rigid now that I've replaced it, but the plastic plates worked way better than I expected.

    I'm afraid that connecting a VFD to an arduino is one thing I've never tried. I generally use either a BOB (Brake Out Board) w/parallel interface or more recently a ESS ( Product Details ) which is a Ethernet interface with multiple parallel outputs that's jumped to BOB's as needed. I don't recall exactly how many I/O's can be addressed, but I haven't needed more that 2 BOB'S to address what I've needed for any CNC Router. It really opens up Mach 3 options.

    Yes but Savvas has done it, and the arduino has the pins needed to do so
    Enable (pwm) and direction

    Yeah it's quite straight forward really - although I'm going to have to re-watch my videos to refresh my memory. My VFD was unusual though - and not the typical Huan Yang type. What controller are you using btw?
