Hey Brian this thread could be written up as a thriller - I just can't wait to see what is coming next. :D

Seriously though, you are doing a great job with your build - thank you for taking the time to tell us all about it and posting all the pictures.

    Hi All,
I am still here. I have had a lot going on this week and I still need a few items that are in the mail before I can start setting things in stone, so Ultimo has had to sit in the corner for a bit. I got an update yesterday and my parts should ship in about a week, then I can get back to serious building and make this beast start slinging some chips. Sorry Tweakie no solving the mystery this week, I guess it's still a nail biter :nailbite:

As Boo always says "Stay Tuned....."

P.S. Truth in publishing... I went back and cleaned up a couple of posts as sometimes I can get redundant redundant

YAY!!! My long awaited parts have arrived and I can continue the build.
The down side....I broke my toe late last week so I am not scooting about very quickly :blackeye:
I am going to work on finishing the forms for the posts today and plan on the first concrete pour tomorrow.

    WERE BACK so

    Stay Tuned......

Sounds like no more soccer for you, even watching might be too painful. Hope it gets better soon.
I've been looking around hoping to find some plans for your creation, are they there somewhere? Or am I just dreamin?

    Hi Yetiman,
I haven't posted up any drawings yet because the design isn't completely set and the drawings need to be updated constantly as I add or change things. I will be uploading the plans after I finish the build.

Ok maybe I was being optimistic about the forms getting done in a day given the condition of my toe lol. But I have managed to get the pieces cut and just about ready for assembly. The throbbing in my toe is actually starting to subside a little so I am hopeful for finishing the forms by tomorrow and getting some pics posted.

    Hi Gray,
lol...I normally don't do selfies but in 50 yrs that is my first broken bone, so I had to record it for posterity. I only do the gory and ghoulish selfies . Like the time I cut off the tip of my thumb with monofilament fishing line :jawdrop: now that was some gory stuff and I just had to have a picture o_O.

    Haven't things changed.

When I cut the top off my middle finger, the last thing on my mind, was to take a picture of it! :D

Then again, Phones with cameras weren't around then! Maybe I would have.

    Hello All,
Well the broken toe may have slowed me down a bit, but I haven't let it stop me completely. After doing some assembly and checking form, fit and function I decided to get rid of the PVC and just build the forms completely from wood and use the 20 x 60 instead of the 20 x 20. It's a little more work but I just didn't think the 20 by 20 v-slot would hold up to the twist forces I am likely to impart when I start taking chunks out of hard stuff. I am almost done with the new forms and Boo has mandated that we have the first pour done by the end of the week, ........Aye, Aye Sir I said  we will make it happen....

I have also designed a rolling Block Bearing to handle the load from the effector arms.
Disclaimer.....This is untested ATM, but I have a friend printing the plastic pieces and I should be able to do no load testing maybe next week.

Parts list is short and drawing is attached

    V-slot 20 x 60 (black anodized is recommended)
OpenRail 2 pieces (see note above)
    OpenRail Plate 60mm
Steel Wheel Kits x 6 ea
    Eccentric Spacers x 3 ea
    M5 x 30mm flat head screws x 6 ea
    M5 Nylock nuts x 6 ea
    Aluminum Spacer Plate 50 x 70 x 2.2mm (11 gauge sheet)
    Roller pins 9.5 (3/8") x 20.45mm 12ea
2 printed parts (included in drawing)

    Stay Tuned.....

    Good Morning All,
I updated my drawings last night to incorporate the new rolling block and square mounting posts. Here are a few screnshots of the latest drawings.

The pour looks like it is on for tomorrow

    Stay Tuned....

Brian - Just remember that the pour goes inside the form and NOT on your broken foot. Remember that Boo know which is which.

    Good luck

Thanks for the sage advice Bob, I will be sure to keep the toe out of the danger zone...Boo has helped remind me twice which toe is broken by stepping on it lol. He is always right at my side when I am moving, if he was black I would have named him Shadow ;)

And Thank You for the well wishes on the project.

If you've got any extra mix, you could always make yourself a cast to protect it. ;)

    Well the saga continues....

Finding out your "brand new" square really isn't just before you start mixing cement..........."Priceless!!!!"

I have to cut off the offending chunks where I used the almost square and reattach new pieces using a square square

Luckily, it's not a hard fix. I already have one completely done and the other two are half done, so we will try again for tomorrow on the pour.

    Hi Folks,
Well to say that this last week has been eventful is a massive understatement.

We have started a new company....Ultimate Motion LLC

    teamed up with OpenBuilds

Got our confirmation e-mail for being accepted as an exhibitor for the Orlando MakerFaire...
Like we didn't have enough drama and suspense already on this build, now we have given ourselves six weeks to get it all together and ready for public demo :nailbite:  :banghead: no worries though, we have a GREAT TEAM!

Got in the first set of test prints for the rolling block assembly...Thanks John.... You Rock Brother! As soon as the pins come in we can start putting it to the test

AND>>>>>>> We are now 95% plus on the detail design, and all parts are in route or out for manufacture.

OH and Boo got a hair cut

The next six weeks are gonna be full of exciting twists and turns

    Stay Tuned!!.........

Looking great Brian! This monster-of-a-delt will surely turn some heads!

Boo is looking more and more like Mr. Peabody - are you sure he didn't adopt you?

It is now common knowledge that Boo is really the one running this gig and there is no doubt that I am his human ;O)

    Hey folks,
Well things sure have evolved fast...
We have decided to have the concrete forms as well as all of the critical kinematic connectors cut on the water jet cutter so we can be sure we are nuts on when we put this beast together. The detail design and associated drawings are now at 99%. I will be at the cutting shop tomorrow to drop off the melamine. Needless to say the water jet opens up a whole new realm of possibilities when it comes to designing and building, and I am working hard to take full advantage of the capabilities. The forms will now incorporate a jig to set the posts perfectly, and a set of attached studs for making the effector arms all the same. Here is the latest rendering (and probably the last since my poor laptop is having nervous breakdowns over doing CAD work with this much detail. There is only one thing left to add at this point and it is a critical item. I will let you guys throw darts at the board and see if someone can hit the bulls eye before I say what it is.

And while you are cogitating that one here is a sneak peak at the frame and jig assy. I am making it extra sturdy so it can be passed on and used as many times as possible. The top is bolted together using the effector plate for precision alignment, in addition, I will connect the bottom part of the table to the face of the v-slot using angle brackets to help keep it sturdy and aligned precisely for the pour.
