just new to this and having trouble start up that thing. ive got Smoothieboard with DQ542MA also cant start up smoothie
It's 1000x1500 but having a big problem start up smoothieboard plz any chance help me step by step to get it up and running plz
Need more info, what have you tried? what is the issue exactly? and a pic of it setup.. also i think you want to disconnect the enables, just pull the enable plug out of the drives for now.
Need start from beginning so it's 24v 17a 400w power supply, nema 23 high torque series steeper driver dq542ma and it's ox cnc 1000x1500 now what do I need to do to start up and running smoothieboard?
And further to the instructions in post #8, also see general-appendixes [Smoothieware] for details on external driver wiring. The Smoothieware wiki has all the answers you need
Ok another cherry here trying to figure out how to hook up the external drivers to a smoothie. After reading the smoothie wiki this is how I think they should be hooked up. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks
Not a Smoothie expert but I think you want to run common cathode - connect the stepper control signals (en, step, dir) to the equivalent + terminals on the drivers and gnd to all the - terminals. I found this page that shows both ways of doing it but the common cathode approach is the easiest This does beg the question of why all the stand-alone drivers with optoisolators have + and - for each input (en, step and dir). Are there controllers that use common anode/negative logic? Is there a benefit to keeping the optos separate?
"This does beg the question of why all the stand-alone drivers with optoisolators have + and - for each input (en, step and dir). Are there controllers that use common anode/negative logic? Is there a benefit to keeping the optos separate?" You are asking the wrong guy. I am just a body guy the closest equation we have to ohms law is: bondo + hardener = sand The reason I am wiring it this way is that what the smoothie wiki says to get 5v to the driver, as the smoothie does not provide it except through that pin on the endstops. Additionally, have to do some changing in the config file.
