I purchased 3 stepper controllers that have dip switches which allow me to regulate the amps. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/620511654881622915/ The closest I can come to configuring it properly for my 2.8 amp stepper motors is 3.0 amps or 2.6 amps. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00QG1ZF48/ref=cm_sw_r_pi_dp_U_x_OPdoAbG3S3NF8 Is it ok to set the controller boards to 3.0 or should I set them to 2.6 amps? The Electronics 101 post said it's best to set the amps exactly as the motor specifies, never higher. But that is not an option.
2.6 would be fine, at 3 they might run too hot. Hot is when you can not hold your hand on it for more than a few seconds. Warm is just fine.
Set them to 3 and keep and eye on temperature. If any are getting too hot to touch then turn the driver down for that motor.
What is the benefit of supplying more amps? Does it give it more torque or speed? Please educate me. Thanks
