    Thanks guys!

    So I have been trying all day to get bCNC to just connect to the phoenix control board with no luck. It just doesn't show up in the com ports at all, even though the computer is showing it is connected in device manager.

    Very confused and have no idea what I am doing, any help would be great.

    Good looking build. Do you think it is sufficient to build the Sphynx out of MDF as a start to then be able to cut our own alloy plates from a machine built with MDF?

    I probably wouldn't go straight to aluminum from mdf. Its just not stiff enough.

    Ahh ok, I was thinking that the MDF might hold up enough to upgrade itself by cutting its own upgrade parts from alloy. Am trying to figure a way to do the aloy parts without finding someone else to do them.

    If the MDF is accurate enough to properly locate the holes (or to cut a thin template material), I don't see why you couldn't do that, and finish an initial alloy set on the band saw and drill press (if you have those).

    Second what Scotty said, use it to spot your holes etc, then drill out on the drill press, then cut none critical geometry by hand. If you are like me your final plates won't be even close to what you thought when you started, so maybe cut some test ones with your CNC out of mdf, and make your alloy ones the third set. My set right now are acrylic which is pretty stiff, but has its downsides. Looks nice though.

    I used a set of very rigid 12mm plastic chopping boards to get started. :D
    Easy to cut and make, and lasted well enough to very gently make the ali plates. :thumbsup:
