maker muse tolerance test. slightly modified to make it dual extrusion. 0.5, 0.4, and 0.3 moves :) other smaller gaps stuck tight

I really like plugging the nozzle more than I thought. no need for purge bucket, ooze shield and or prime tower.

Stephen, what are the two silver strips at the front of the build plate? It looks like they are going under the front idler pulleys.

Clips that go under the nozzles to stop oozes.

Ahh I see. That is pretty cool. Did you print your parts in PLA+, PETG or ABS?

It's impressive, for sure. I guess you had to double up with your supports for each extruder (top draw kit, BTW!), in order to get the stiffness, but doesn't that limit your bed size?

I'm puzzled by this machine. I still don't understand why you didn't want to go with a core XY or prusa style frame for an IDEX printer, especially a direct drive model. I don't mean this as a criticism, it's just a bit unusual!

Well, there's a reason that the typical wheel is round...

Regarding bed size, the current build has practical printable area of 118x118 mm square and I've managed to cram in 2 separate heads with very tight tolerance. Couldn't fit a finger between the two. The primary reason why the bed is small is because this all started as an experimental project, and so small is more practical to build and I was able to make sure x y z is mechanically aligned without tramming or compensation ( it actually feels good that way :)

To make prusa machine an Idex, you will need to sacrifice build area in the x direction for the added space to park the second toolhead. The toolheads on my machine runs parallel so they will never crashed with each other.

Also I love crane style printer but none out there has more than 1 head so I believe this project might be the first? :)

Dual draudi :) not perfect yet. I still need to figure out how to increase filament flow during initial small island hopping... Small areas golden scale wasn't printing correctly. But overall itst actually pretty good. And print were completed slightly less than 5hrs

I think you can be fairly sure you are the first crane frame IDEX printer. Great work!

    Hi there
I love this build, thank you so much for sharing. I'm attempting this build at home. However, I seem to be missing drawings for the "Y-Axis Motor Holder", which attaches to one end of the C-Beam / Y axis. Do you have that drawing avaialble? Thanks in advance and have a great day!
    Cheers,
    Avi
