Good Day, I am looking for CNC machine plans that do not use Stepper motors, i need geared DC motors and optical x an y strips to be followed, somehow i can not find this on the internet probably because my wording is wrong , please can anyone help me with this. My project is for large surface painting on material 12 meter x 3 meter for street banners. Accuracy is not a big factor obviously.

What you seek is a linear encoder. 12m may be a bit of a stretch though as these are typically designed for 1m or less due to the ultrafine resolution for which they are designed. But if you do achieve it, it'll work great until the first time the overspray tags the film. You might want to consider rotary encoders instead.
