I know this isn't really CNC or build related but I think it's still pretty cool and it does demonstrate what can be achieved with an NC machine. We used a CNC router to cut the side panels and Control panel & the control panel top layer (perspex) was laser cut. Has been in the making for the last 18 months, more as a result of the lack of free time over ability. But it is now in the final stages of assembly and painting. Will post a pic of the finished item, hopefully in the not too distant future.
Hopefully it will have a good collection of old classics from my younger days. This particular box has been fitted with light guns and has successfully worked with Virtua Cop Happy to share the DXF for the panels if anyone is interested in making their own.
Great project! I collect and restore arcade games, so I am happy to see scratch builds and not converting an antique Also considering that you can create an awesome marquee using arcylic + vcarve + edge lit led strip
Brizzo, I had not considered using an edge lit marquee, that is a great idea. I enjoy the challenge of the build so converting an old cabinet never entered my mind. But I do understand it would have been a great shame to tear up an antique. dddman, I'll be using a set of pc 2.1 speakers, but the L&R speaker satellites have been replaced with a pair of car 4" speakers that are mounted under the marquee.
It's finished! Well the first of 3 anyway. We ended up using a printed Marque and illuminated it from the back with a small florescent light.
The paper border that surrounds the screen needs to be replaced with a heavier card and the glass screen panel isn't installed so it should end up much neater.
