Just curious what brought you all here and how long you've been a part of the OpenBuilds community....
Well. Hundreds of years ago, I was thinking of making House Signs, and was looking at those contraptions where you put together the individual letters to make up the words, and then clamp it down and use a router to cut them out. And, well, one thing led to another and I came across the CNC thing. It was down hill from then on really. No, not really. It was like stumbling across a whole new world, of machines that would do wondrous things, for what was a reasonable price, and you could make them yourself!! I wonder if there are any more great surprises I've yet to come across. As it happens, that was exactly 4 years ago this month!! So that is how it all began. Thanks, Mark Gray
I "stumbled upon" OpenBuilds about 3 years ago while researching 3D printers to build my own. I ended up designing mine around OpenBuilds V-slot and OpenRail. My "icon" is a screenshot of that design. The rest is history... https://openbuilds.com/builds/quorxz-a-string-driven-core-xz-printer.5489/
I first heard about Openbuilds / V-slot during the original Kickstarter. The whole system immediately caught my attention and I started retro fitting and incorporating V-slot into my older systems , builds and projects. when in the past bearings and angle where more common. Joined the forums here on 2014/02/26 and started designing new 3d printers and cnc machines ( Have learned a lot along the way ). My original interest in automation and subsequently 3d printing and cnc was the need to reproduce a particular vintage automobile part I needed that I still have not finished To many fun projects keep sidetracking me.
@Scotty Orr Heck of a first build - great documentation! @Kyo what is it going to take to get that vintage part made? lol
